ElectionNews – Vijay Set for First Public Thank-You Visit to Tiruchi
ElectionNews – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is scheduled to visit Tiruchi on Monday evening to personally thank the people of Tiruchi East for their support in the recently concluded Assembly election. The visit marks his first appearance in the city since taking charge as chief minister earlier this month and is expected to draw a large gathering of party supporters and local residents.

Visit Follows Electoral Success
Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister on May 10 after leading TVK to a decisive victory in the state elections. During the polls, he contested from both Chennai Perambur and Tiruchi East and secured victories in both constituencies. As election rules require an elected representative to retain only one seat, he chose to continue as the MLA from Perambur and vacated the Tiruchi East constituency, paving the way for a by-election.
The upcoming visit has been planned as a gesture of gratitude toward the voters of Tiruchi East, who played a significant role in his electoral success. According to party sources, the Chief Minister is expected to arrive in the city by a special flight at around 4 p.m.
Grand Reception Planned by Party Leaders
TVK leaders and supporters have made extensive preparations to welcome the Chief Minister. Senior ministers, legislators, and key party office-bearers are expected to receive him upon arrival before accompanying him to the event venue.
Following the reception, Vijay will travel in a specially arranged motorcade to the grounds of St. Joseph’s College, where a large public thanksgiving programme has been organized. Organizers have constructed a spacious covered structure to accommodate thousands of attendees expected to participate in the gathering.
Address to Supporters and Voters
The Chief Minister is likely to use the event to express appreciation to the electorate while also sharing details about the priorities and direction of his government. Party officials indicated that Vijay will address the audience from a specially designed campaign-style vehicle positioned near the main stage area.
The meeting is being viewed as an important political event, as it will be Vijay’s first major public engagement in Tiruchi after assuming the state’s highest office.
Extensive Security Measures in Place
Authorities have implemented comprehensive security arrangements in view of the expected crowd size and the Chief Minister’s movement through the city. Police officials have deployed nearly 2,000 personnel at the venue and along the designated travel route to ensure public safety and smooth management of the programme.
Traffic and crowd-control measures have also been planned to prevent disruptions and facilitate orderly movement of attendees throughout the event.
Entry Restricted Through QR-Based Passes
Meanwhile, TVK headquarters has released detailed instructions for those planning to attend the gathering. In an official statement issued by Minister Anand, the party announced that admission to the venue will be limited to individuals carrying valid QR code-based entry passes.
Organizers stated that only pass holders will be permitted inside the event area as part of the security protocol. The party further clarified that QR-based passes were not distributed to certain categories of individuals, including pregnant women, children, school students, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and those facing health-related concerns.
Appeal for Cooperation
TVK has encouraged supporters who are unable to attend in person to follow the programme through television coverage and social media broadcasts. Party leaders have also urged all attendees to cooperate fully with security officials and event organizers to ensure the successful conduct of Vijay’s first public thanksgiving programme in Tiruchi since becoming Chief Minister.
