Crime Investigation – A major breakthrough has emerged in the investigation into the disappearance of a young woman from Meerut, with police confirming that the missing person case has now turned into a murder investigation. Authorities have recovered the victim’s body from a drain and arrested a suspect believed to be connected to the crime.
Police Investigation Leads to Key Suspect
According to officials, Anushka had been reported missing in late April, prompting an extensive search operation. Soon after receiving information about her disappearance, law enforcement authorities registered a case and launched a coordinated investigation involving multiple teams. Senior Superintendent of Police Vinayak Gopal Bhosale stated that investigators worked through several leads before identifying a person whose activities raised suspicion during the inquiry. The suspect, identified as Shyam Dhanak, is originally from Dehradun and was residing in Chandigarh at the time of the investigation.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed details related to Anushka’s disappearance. Investigators said the woman was known to the suspect and had reportedly visited his fast-food stall on multiple occasions.
According to the information provided by police, an argument allegedly broke out between the two on the night of April 15. Authorities claim that the disagreement escalated, leading to the woman’s murder. Investigators further allege that the suspect disposed of the body in a drain in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Body Recovered, Post-Mortem Examination Underway
Following the interrogation and evidence gathered during the investigation, police teams located and recovered the victim’s body from the drain. The remains have been sent for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide additional details regarding the circumstances and cause of death.
