JauharUniversity –The Samajwadi Party has stepped up its response to the ongoing dispute surrounding Jauhar University in Rampur by sending a team of its Members of Parliament to the district. The delegation is expected to review the situation on the ground, interact with local officials, and request that no demolition action be taken until all legal and administrative matters are properly examined.
Parliamentary delegation to assess the situation
The latest move comes after the party had already dispatched a group of MLAs to Rampur earlier this week under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey. Continuing its campaign, the party leadership, under SP president Akhilesh Yadav, has now constituted a nine-member parliamentary delegation to gather first-hand information about the developments related to the university.
According to party leaders, the MPs will meet district administration officials, review the notices served to the university authorities, and collect details regarding the action initiated by the administration. The findings will be compiled into a report that will be submitted to the party’s central leadership for further consideration.
Party urges administration to avoid demolition
The delegation is also expected to appeal to the district authorities to refrain from taking any demolition-related action until all pending legal and procedural questions have been addressed. The Samajwadi Party has maintained that any decision affecting the university should be taken only after ensuring complete transparency and due process.
Among those included in the parliamentary team are Moradabad MP Ruchi Veera, Iqra Hasan, Harendra Singh Malik, Rajiv Rai, Mohibullah Nadvi, Neeraj Maurya, and Ziaur Rahman Barq, along with other party representatives.
Administration cites alleged building rule violations
The political developments follow action initiated by the Rampur district administration against Jauhar University. Officials have stated that an inspection found that 38 out of the university’s 40 buildings were allegedly constructed without approved building maps or sanctioned plans as required under applicable regulations.
Based on these findings, the administration has issued demolition notices to the university management. The notices direct the institution to remove the structures identified as unauthorized within a period of 15 days.
Demolition notices trigger political debate
The official notice further states that if the university authorities do not comply within the prescribed deadline, the district administration may proceed with demolition under the relevant legal provisions. The possibility of such action has become the centre of a political dispute in Uttar Pradesh.
The Samajwadi Party has questioned the proposed action and argued that the university should be given adequate protection until all legal issues are fully resolved. Party leaders have continued to demand that the administration adopt a fair and transparent approach before taking any irreversible steps.

The dispute has now emerged as a significant political issue in the state, drawing attention from both the ruling administration and the opposition.
