NEET – Akhilesh Yadav Calls for Systemic Reforms Amid Exam Leak Row

NEET – Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has renewed his criticism of the Centre over the NEET paper leak controversy, arguing that isolated administrative measures will not be enough to restore public confidence. He said the country needs deep structural reforms instead of symbolic actions, maintaining that meaningful change can only come by overhauling the existing system responsible for conducting major competitive examinations.

Yadav Questions Government’s Approach

In a post shared on X on Saturday, Yadav used a metaphor to express his views, saying that preserving the core of a flawed system would only allow problems to continue. According to him, replacing only the visible parts without addressing the underlying framework would fail to prevent similar incidents in the future. His remarks came as the debate over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination continues across the country.

Focus on Action Against NTA Officials

Along with his comments, the Samajwadi Party leader referred to the steps announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government following the controversy. Authorities have removed 47 senior officials associated with the National Testing Agency (NTA), and an FIR is set to be registered in connection with the alleged paper leak. Earlier, two NTA secretaries were also relieved of their responsibilities as part of the administrative action.

The government has stated that the investigation is being carried out on priority and that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for violations related to the examination process.

Fresh Political Attack on BJP

A day before his latest remarks, Yadav sharply targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the ruling party is responsible for several issues currently affecting the country. In another message posted on X, he argued that treating only the visible consequences of a problem would not be effective if its root cause remains untouched.

Using another metaphor, he claimed that lasting solutions require addressing the source of the problem rather than focusing on its outcomes. He further accused the BJP of being at the center of the country’s challenges and repeated his demand for political change.

Protests Continue Over Examination Irregularities

The NEET controversy has triggered demonstrations and protests in several parts of the country. Students, parents and various organizations have continued to raise concerns over the credibility of the national-level examination system following allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities.

Many protest groups have also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, arguing that greater accountability is needed to restore confidence in the examination process. The issue has become a major political flashpoint, with opposition parties continuing to question the government’s handling of the matter while the Centre maintains that corrective measures and investigations are underway.
