Although her illness has prevented her from joining a recent public protest in Mumbai, she said her support for the students and demonstrators remains unchanged and that she continues to stand with them despite her absence.

Shabana Azmi informed her followers about her health condition through a post on social media. Alongside a photograph from the protest, she explained that she had intended to participate in the gathering but had to stay away after being diagnosed with H1N1. She noted that doctors advised her to isolate herself while recovering from the infection.
In her message, the veteran actor expressed gratitude to the people who attended the protest and said she has been receiving direct updates from several young participants.
