New Zealand National Cricket Team vs West Indies Cricket Team Timeline: Kane Williamson is named in the New Zealand squad for the Test series against the West Indies

New Zealand National Cricket Team vs West Indies Cricket Team Timeline: After being included in the New Zealand squad for Monday’s three-match test series against the West Indies, former captain Kane Williamson has returned to the national team. In order to have a well-rounded pace assault for the series, the Black Caps have also added pacers Blair Tickner and Zak Foulkes.

After choosing to withdraw from the central contract offered by the New Zealand Cricket Board, Williamson, a longtime fixture for New Zealand, has been absent from international cricket. In addition to missing the one-day international series against the West Indies, which ended on Saturday with a 3-0 whitewash for the Black Caps, the 35-year-old batsman has already taken a break from the T20I format.

Coach Rob Walter said of the 35-year-old hitter, “Kane’s ability on the field speaks for itself and it will be great to have his skills as well as his leadership back in the test group.”

“He’s had a bit of time off to get himself ready for red-ball cricket.”

After recuperating from an injury, Daryl Mitchell, a rising star in New Zealand cricket, has been added to the team. Notably, Mitchell suffered a groin injury while striking a century in the first match of the series, which kept him out of the remaining two ODI matches.

During the ODI series against England in late October and early November, 32-year-old Tickner won two Man of the Match awards. In August, when he and Duffy made their test debuts against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, 23-year-old Foulkes claimed nine wickets.

“Both Jacob and Blair have been around a while and know what it takes to perform at the highest level,” Walter said.

“Zak’s performance against Zimbabwe in his maiden Test match couldn’t have been greater. He has appropriately been selected as a result of it and his recent performance on the white-ball tours.

Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, Kane Williamson, Will Young, and Tom Latham (captain) comprise the New Zealand team.
