Expansion of Indiramma Housing Programme

Speaking at a public gathering, the Chief Minister noted that the government successfully completed house-warming ceremonies for one lakh Indiramma homes within a year. He emphasized that financial assistance for the housing initiative has been released promptly, ensuring uninterrupted progress in construction activities.

According to the Chief Minister, the second phase of the programme is already underway, with construction started for another 2.5 lakh houses across the state. He directed officials to identify and submit details of all homeless families so that they can be included in future allocations under the scheme.

Additional Houses Approved for Tribal Regions

During the event, Revanth Reddy announced the immediate sanction of 3,500 houses for the constituency he was addressing. He also approved 21,000 more homes for areas under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA).

He stated that the government aims to improve the quality of life for tribal and Adivasi communities, particularly in Adilabad district, by providing secure housing and better opportunities. The Chief Minister stressed that beneficiaries were selected without considering political affiliations.

Focus on Tummidihatti Barrage Project

The Chief Minister also addressed the proposed Tummidihatti Barrage project, describing it as a crucial initiative for farmers in northern Telangana. He asserted that the interests of farmers would remain the government’s highest priority and said he was prepared to engage with Union leaders to seek support for the project.

Revanth Reddy called upon Union Minister G Kishan Reddy to facilitate discussions between Telangana and Maharashtra regarding the project. He argued that resolving pending issues would help protect the livelihoods of thousands of farming families.

Demand for Cooperation From Maharashtra

Appealing to the Maharashtra government, the Chief Minister urged its leadership to consider Telangana’s irrigation requirements. He said the proposed barrage could provide water to nearly 2.5 lakh acres of farmland in Adilabad district.

He further argued that the project would enable large-scale irrigation through gravity flow, benefiting vast agricultural areas. In contrast, he claimed that the Kaleshwaram project had not significantly contributed to irrigation coverage in the district.

Paddy Procurement Remains Key Issue

The Chief Minister also focused on crop procurement, assuring farmers that the state government would continue purchasing all available paddy, including grain affected by moisture. He stated that Telangana has already procured approximately 7.5 million metric tonnes of paddy during the ongoing procurement season.

At the same time, he criticized the Union government for what he described as a lack of response to repeated requests regarding crop purchases. According to him, while a Minimum Support Price has been announced, procurement responsibilities have not been adequately fulfilled.

Centre Urged to Purchase Paddy and Maize

Revanth Reddy demanded that the Centre procure paddy, moisture-damaged grain, and maize already purchased by the state government. He questioned the silence of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on the matter and urged immediate intervention.

The Chief Minister warned that if no response is received, the state government would intensify its campaign after June 15. He reiterated that Telangana remains committed to safeguarding farmers’ interests and ensuring fair compensation for their produce.

Appeal to Farmers for Support

Concluding his address, Revanth Reddy appealed to farmers to stand with the state government in its efforts to secure procurement support from the Centre. He assured them that Telangana would continue purchasing every grain brought by farmers, including crops affected by adverse weather conditions, and pledged continued support to the agricultural community.
