Infrastructure –Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has outlined a long-term vision for Amaravati as a modern capital city that combines economic growth, environmental responsibility, and high-quality urban living.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Amaravati into a globally competitive capital that will play a central role in Andhra Pradesh’s economic progress. During a high-level review meeting on the Amaravati 2.0 Integrated Master Plan and the second phase of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS-2), he stressed that the city should be planned as an inclusive destination where people from every region of the state can live, work, and contribute to future development. Senior government officials and representatives from Singapore participated in the discussions, reviewing the roadmap for the capital’s next stage of growth.
Updated Master Plan Presented
Representatives from Singapore shared a detailed presentation outlining the revised master plan, including the overall project scope, phased development strategy, and implementation schedule. The updated blueprint also features comprehensive area planning, advanced infrastructure proposals, and investment frameworks designed to support long-term expansion. Officials examined different stages of execution aimed at ensuring steady progress while maintaining planning standards.
Focus on Sustainable Urban Development
During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed officials to make environmental sustainability a core component of Amaravati’s development. He called for wider adoption of renewable energy solutions and encouraged the use of eco-friendly construction methods across future projects. According to the government’s vision, green infrastructure and responsible urban planning should become defining features of the capital, helping create a city prepared for future environmental and economic challenges.
Employment and Innovation at the Centre
Naidu underlined that a strong economy capable of creating employment opportunities will be essential for the city’s long-term success. He proposed incorporating the concept of a Creative City into Amaravati’s development strategy to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and new business opportunities. The objective is to attract investment across multiple sectors while creating an ecosystem that supports skilled professionals, industries, startups, and knowledge-based enterprises.
Transport Network to Strengthen Connectivity
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of efficient transport infrastructure in supporting Amaravati’s expansion. He noted that the planned Inner Ring Road and Outer Ring Road projects are expected to provide world-class connectivity and improve access between the capital region and major transport corridors across the state. Improved road infrastructure is expected to facilitate smoother movement of people and goods while strengthening regional economic integration.
Water Security Remains a Priority
Addressing concerns related to changing climate conditions, including possible El Niño impacts, Naidu said the capital region has adequate water resources to support its future growth. He pointed to the successful transfer of Godavari River water into the Krishna River through the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, stating that the project has significantly improved water availability. According to the government, this achievement helps ensure that Amaravati remains well-supplied with water while supporting greenery, agriculture, and urban expansion.
Long-Term Vision for Global Standards
The Chief Minister said the state’s broader objective is to develop Amaravati in line with international benchmarks while improving living standards and economic opportunities for residents. He emphasised that sustainable development, innovation, and carefully planned infrastructure must guide every stage of the project. The administration believes that a balanced approach combining economic growth, environmental protection, and modern urban design will help the capital emerge as a major growth engine for Andhra Pradesh in the coming years.
The review meeting was attended by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana, Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary for Finance Piyush Kumar, senior government officials, and members of the Singapore delegation, who discussed the implementation strategy for the next phase of Amaravati’s development.
