Krishna Janmabhoomi –A fresh controversy has emerged after remarks made by an Islamic cleric about Lord Krishna drew sharp criticism from religious leaders and political figures, leading to widespread calls for legal action and an apology.

Krishna janmabhoomi controversy news

A speech delivered by Uttar Pradesh-based Islamic cleric Maulana Jarjis Ansari has become the center of a nationwide debate after a video of his remarks gained significant attention on social media. The speech, reportedly delivered during a religious gathering in Jharkhand on June 23, resurfaced amid ongoing discussions surrounding the Krishna Janmabhoomi issue. The viral clip has prompted objections from several Hindu organizations, which argue that the comments have hurt religious sentiments and disturbed communal harmony.

Remarks Trigger Strong Opposition

During his address, the cleric claimed that Lord Krishna was a Muslim and stated that he offered namaz five times a day. Referring to a verse from the Bhagavad Gita, Ansari asserted that the scripture supported his interpretation. He also suggested that people who study religious texts would develop a greater understanding of Islam, describing it as a universal faith.

The statements quickly attracted criticism from various Hindu groups, many of which demanded immediate action against the cleric. Several organizations urged authorities to investigate the matter, while protests were reported in response to the viral video.

Religious Leaders Express Concern

Prominent Hindu saints strongly rejected the cleric’s interpretation, describing it as historically and spiritually unfounded. Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya of Tapasvi Chhawani said the remarks lacked evidence and had the potential to disturb social peace. He reaffirmed that Lord Krishna is worshipped by millions as the Supreme Divine Being in Hindu tradition.

Religious leader Deveshacharya Ji Maharaj also criticized the comments, calling them unfortunate and unacceptable. He stated that making such claims without proper understanding of Hindu scriptures only creates unnecessary controversy and religious tension.

Ayodhya-based Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das strongly objected to the remarks and announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for anyone who severs the cleric’s tongue. His statement has itself generated discussion due to its provocative nature. Another religious leader, Mahant Nirmal Giri of Kailash Temple, accused the cleric of repeatedly making controversial statements targeting Sanatan Dharma during public gatherings.

Political Leaders Call for Investigation

Political leaders from different parties also reacted to the controversy. Former Uttar Pradesh minister and BJP leader Mohsin Raza condemned the remarks and called for an investigation into the organizations associated with the cleric. He alleged that such statements were intended to offend religious beliefs and create divisions within society.

Jharkhand Assembly Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi questioned the purpose of the speech, asking whether the remarks were directed at Hindus or Muslims. He said Hindus already revere Lord Krishna, suggesting that the comments served little constructive purpose.

Congress leader Mahendra Pratap Singh also criticized the statement, describing it as deeply regrettable. He urged the cleric to issue a public apology to members of the Hindu and Sanatan communities for hurting their religious sentiments.

VHP and Hindu Organizations Respond

Vishwa Hindu Parishad spokesperson Vinod Bansal condemned the speech, saying similar remarks had surfaced in the past from other individuals. According to him, repeated controversial statements concerning Hindu deities create unnecessary friction between communities and should not be encouraged.

Several Hindu organizations have continued to demand legal action against the cleric, arguing that public figures should exercise greater responsibility while discussing matters related to religion. They maintain that preserving communal harmony requires respectful dialogue and sensitivity toward all faiths.

The controversy continues to generate reactions across political and religious circles, while the viral video remains widely shared on social media. Authorities have yet to announce any official action regarding the matter.
