DigitalEducation –Andhra Pradesh has highlighted its technology-based approach to delivering school welfare benefits, presenting a comprehensive digital model before senior officials of the Ministry of Education in New Delhi. The presentation focused on how the state has modernized the implementation of student welfare programmes through an integrated digital framework designed to improve transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
Integrated Digital Platform for Student Welfare
Speaking during the presentation, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao explained that the Department of School Education, together with Samagra Shiksha, has developed a digital public infrastructure centered on the vision of “One Student – One Aadhaar.” The initiative connects multiple student services through a unified digital system, allowing eligible beneficiaries to receive government support in a streamlined and verified manner.
According to the officials, Aadhaar authentication forms the foundation of this digital platform, ensuring that welfare benefits reach the intended students without unnecessary delays or duplication. The same verification mechanism is also being used for Direct Benefit Transfer under the Thalliki Vandanam scheme, enabling financial assistance to be transferred directly to eligible beneficiaries.
Multiple Schemes Connected Through One System
The state government informed the ministry that several important education-related welfare programmes have now been brought under a single digital network. These include the implementation of PM SHRI schools, scholarship distribution, sanitary napkin supply, transport assistance, and support initiatives for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), among other student-focused programmes.
Officials said that integrating these services into one platform has improved record management while making monitoring and verification more efficient. The digital framework also helps prevent duplicate beneficiary records and strengthens transparency by relying on authenticated digital processes throughout the service delivery chain.
Live Demonstration Highlights Distribution Process
During the meeting, ministry officials were given a live demonstration through a video conference from the Samagra Shiksha State Office in Vijayawada. The demonstration showcased the distribution of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra Student Kits using biometric verification and Aadhaar-based One-Time Password authentication.
The student kits include essential learning materials such as textbooks, notebooks, school bags, footwear, and other items required for classroom learning. Officials explained that the authentication process confirms the identity of beneficiaries before the kits are handed over, creating a transparent record of every distribution.
Structured Workflow Improves Accountability
Explaining the operational process, Srinivasa Rao said the department has introduced a structured distribution system supported by technology at every stage. The process begins only after the respective school headmaster confirms that the complete student kit has been received and is ready for distribution.
Once confirmation is recorded in the system, parents automatically receive an SMS notification informing them that the kit is available for collection. This communication allows families to visit the school at the appropriate time while ensuring that every distribution is digitally documented.
Officials noted that the technology-driven workflow is intended to strengthen accountability, improve beneficiary tracking, and provide greater visibility into the implementation of student welfare programmes across the state. By combining Aadhaar authentication with digital record management, Andhra Pradesh aims to create a transparent and efficient system that supports students while reducing administrative challenges associated with traditional distribution methods.
