He voted at a polling booth in Kullampalayam, located within the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency in Erode district. After voting, he spoke about the broader national vision, emphasizing the need for sustained focus on development goals leading up to 2047. He pointed out that sectors such as education and healthcare remain crucial and require consistent attention from both state and central governments.

Actor Gautham Ram Karthik cast his vote at the same location, while actor Ajith Kumar voted at a polling station in Thiruvanmiyur. Their presence added visibility to the electoral process and encouraged fans and citizens to participate.

Voter Demographics and Preparedness

According to Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik, the state has an electorate exceeding 5.73 crore voters. This includes more than 2.93 crore women voters, around 2.80 crore men, and over 7,700 voters from the third-gender category. The election also features a significant number of new participants, with more than 14.5 lakh first-time voters registered.

In addition, over 68,000 service voters are eligible to vote, while more than 4.18 lakh postal ballots have already been received. Authorities have set up 62 counting centres across the state to ensure a streamlined counting process once polling concludes. Vote counting is scheduled to take place on May 4.

Key Alliances and Political Contest

The election is shaping up as a closely watched contest between major political alliances. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is leading the Secular Progressive Alliance, which includes parties such as the Congress, DMDK, and VCK. The alliance is campaigning on governance and development initiatives introduced during its tenure.

On the other side, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is heading the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state, with support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and PMK. The alliance is aiming to regain political ground and present itself as a viable alternative to the current administration.

Emergence of a New Political Player

Adding a new dimension to the electoral landscape is actor-turned-politician Vijay, who is making his electoral debut through his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). His entry has introduced the possibility of a three-cornered contest in several constituencies, potentially influencing traditional voting patterns.

Smooth Conduct and Security Measures

Election officials reported that polling has been proceeding in an orderly manner, supported by adequate deployment of security personnel. Measures have been taken to assist elderly voters, persons with disabilities, and first-time voters, ensuring accessibility at polling booths.

As voting continues across the state, attention now turns to turnout figures and how the electorate responds to competing political narratives. The results, expected in early May, will determine the direction of governance in Tamil Nadu for the coming years.
