Karan Johar Encouraged Her Return to Acting

Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast show All About Her, Neetu Kapoor revealed that Karan Johar played a major role in motivating her to accept a film project after years away from mainstream cinema. According to the actor, she was still deeply affected by grief when the filmmaker suggested she return to work through the family drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo.

Neetu recalled that Johar approached her with confidence and urged her to consider acting again. Though she agreed to the idea, she admitted that emotionally preparing herself for the camera was far more difficult than expected.

Nervousness on the Sets of Jug Jugg Jeeyo

The actor explained that despite decades of experience in the film industry, she struggled with anxiety throughout the shooting process. Neetu shared that she would become extremely nervous before every scene and often found herself trembling on set.

She said the absence of Rishi Kapoor beside her made the experience emotionally overwhelming. Having spent much of her professional journey with her husband’s support, returning to a film set alone felt unfamiliar and emotionally draining.

Neetu added that completing the film eventually gave her confidence and helped her slowly regain emotional strength. The experience, she noted, became an important step in rebuilding her life after personal loss.

Family Faced a Difficult Period After Rishi Kapoor’s Death

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Neetu and Rishi Kapoor, also appeared on the podcast and spoke about the emotional struggles the family experienced after the actor’s passing in 2020.

Riddhima explained that both she and her mother were dealing with grief in their own ways, making it difficult for them to openly express their emotions to each other. She shared that during that time, both often preferred spending time alone to process their feelings privately.

The conversation offered a rare glimpse into how the Kapoor family managed the emotional aftermath of losing one of Hindi cinema’s most respected actors.

Work Became a Source of Strength

Neetu Kapoor said that gradually returning to professional commitments helped her regain stability and emotional balance. Along with films, she also appeared on television shows and participated as a judge in entertainment programs.

According to the actor, staying active professionally allowed her to move forward and rebuild confidence. She mentioned that at this stage of life, she no longer works for fame or financial success, but instead chooses projects that bring her personal satisfaction and happiness.

Her comments reflected a more balanced approach toward work and life, shaped by years of experience in the entertainment industry.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo Marked an Important Career Milestone

Released in 2022, Jug Jugg Jeeyo became an important film in Neetu Kapoor’s career as it marked her return to mainstream Bollywood after a long break. It was also her first major project following the death of Rishi Kapoor.

Before that, her last widely discussed film appearance had been in Do Dooni Chaar in 2010, where she shared screen space with Rishi Kapoor. The film had received appreciation for portraying a middle-class family with warmth and realism.

Neetu Kapoor was recently seen in Daadi Ki Shaadi, which also featured comedian Kapil Sharma. The project gained additional attention as it marked the acting debut of Riddhima Kapoor Sahni in Bollywood.
