TerrorismCase – NIA Submits Massive Chargesheet in Red Fort Bomb Blast Probe
TerrorismCase – The National Investigation Agency has submitted an extensive chargesheet in connection with the deadly vehicle bomb explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed 11 lives and left many others injured.

The 7,500-page document was filed before the special NIA court at Patiala House Courts, marking a significant development in the investigation into the high-intensity blast that shook the national capital on November 10 last year. Authorities said the explosion also caused severe destruction to nearby structures and public property.
Investigation Links Accused to Extremist Network
According to officials familiar with the case, the agency has named 10 individuals in the chargesheet, including the alleged mastermind, Dr Umer Un Nabi, who died during the course of the investigation. The NIA stated that all those named were allegedly associated with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, a group believed to be linked with Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent.
Investigators said the probe uncovered what they described as a coordinated extremist conspiracy aimed at carrying out a large-scale terror attack in the heart of the capital. The agency relied on forensic evidence, digital records, witness accounts, and technical analysis while preparing the chargesheet.
Scientific Evidence Played Key Role
Officials said the investigation involved extensive forensic examination of the Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device used in the attack. The findings reportedly helped agencies identify the network behind the explosion and trace the movement of suspects connected to the case.
The NIA further claimed that several of the accused were allegedly influenced by extremist propaganda linked to AQIS and AGuH ideologies. Among those named in the case are individuals with medical backgrounds, including former healthcare professionals and academicians.
Authorities identified Dr Umer Un Nabi as a former Assistant Professor of Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad. The agency informed the court that proceedings against him are proposed to be closed due to his death.
Charges Filed Under Multiple Laws
The chargesheet includes provisions under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act, the Arms Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Officials said the case reflects the growing use of advanced investigative techniques in counterterrorism operations. The agency maintained that the evidence collected during the probe establishes links between the accused and banned extremist organisations.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier designated AQIS and its associated entities as terrorist organisations in June 2018. Security agencies have since continued monitoring activities linked to affiliated networks operating in different parts of the country.
Names of Other Accused Included in Chargesheet
Besides Dr Umer Un Nabi, the accused named in the chargesheet are Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, and Yasir Ahmad Dar.
Officials said the investigation remains focused on identifying any additional support networks, financial channels, or logistical assistance connected to the conspiracy. Security agencies are also examining communication patterns and travel records linked to the accused individuals.
The filing of the chargesheet is considered a major procedural step before the trial process moves forward in court. Authorities said further legal proceedings will continue based on the evidence submitted by the investigative agency.
