Explosion Triggers Massive Fire

The incident took place in Tonkkalan village at approximately 11:30 am when a sudden blast erupted inside the factory premises. At the time of the explosion, several workers were reportedly present inside the unit carrying out manufacturing work.

The powerful explosion quickly led to a major fire, causing panic across the surrounding area. Eyewitnesses said the impact of the blast was so intense that nearby homes experienced vibrations similar to an earthquake.

Injured Workers Shifted to Hospitals

Senior police officials confirmed that multiple injured workers were rushed to nearby medical facilities immediately after the accident. Inspector General of Police for the Ujjain Range, Rakesh Gupta, stated that three deaths had been officially confirmed so far.

Several injured victims were admitted to the Dewas District Hospital for emergency treatment, while critically injured individuals were referred to hospitals in Indore due to severe burn injuries and trauma. Authorities indicated that the number of fatalities could rise as some victims remain in critical condition.

Rescue Teams Continue Operations

Police personnel, district administration officials, and emergency response teams reached the site shortly after the incident. Rescue and relief operations continued for several hours as teams worked to remove debris and search for trapped workers.

Videos circulating from the scene showed ambulances transporting severely injured victims to hospitals. Another clip captured heavy machinery clearing damaged structures and debris from the factory area.

Residents Describe Frightening Scene

Local residents narrated horrifying moments following the explosion. According to villagers living close to the factory, body parts and pieces of metal structures were thrown several feet away due to the force of the blast.

One resident, identified as Rakesh Mandloi, said the explosion created widespread fear in the area. He described seeing damaged sheds and debris flying through the air moments after the blast occurred.

Residents further claimed that injured victims and debris were found scattered on roads located nearly 25 to 30 feet away from the site.

Allegations of Illegal Manufacturing Activity

People living near the factory alleged that firecrackers were being manufactured illegally inside the premises. Officials have not yet publicly confirmed whether the unit had valid operational permissions or safety clearances.

Authorities are expected to launch a detailed investigation into the cause of the explosion and examine whether safety regulations were violated. Questions are also being raised about monitoring of hazardous manufacturing units operating in rural areas.

Incident Occurred Before Lunch Break

Sources present at the scene said the blast took place shortly before workers were expected to stop for lunch. The timing likely contributed to the high number of injuries, as many workers were gathered inside the facility during active operations.

The tragedy has once again highlighted concerns over workplace safety and enforcement of industrial regulations in firecracker manufacturing units across the country. Officials continue to assess the damage while medical teams monitor the condition of the injured.
