Court Seeks Police Case Diary

The anticipatory bail plea filed by Anant Singh was heard on Friday in the MP-MLA court presided over by District Judge Rajendra Pandey. During the proceedings, the court declined to stay any possible action against the legislator at this stage and asked police officials to submit the case diary connected to the investigation.

The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for May 20. The court’s decision means Singh may continue to face the possibility of arrest while the investigation progresses.

FIR Registered After Viral Video

Police in Gopalganj registered an FIR against the JD(U) leader after a video allegedly showing the display of firearms became viral online. Authorities have not publicly disclosed all details of the investigation, but the case has triggered renewed discussion around the conduct of public representatives and the use of weapons in public gatherings.

According to officials connected to the prosecution, the case is being examined on the basis of the available video material and related evidence collected by investigators.

Defence Calls Case a Conspiracy

Appearing for the defence, advocate Rajesh Pathak argued before the court that the viral footage did not establish any wrongdoing by his client. He maintained that Anant Singh had been unnecessarily implicated and described the FIR as part of a planned conspiracy against the MLA.

The defence also urged the court to grant protection from arrest until the matter was fully examined. However, the court did not accept the request during the latest hearing.

Pathak further stated that the legal team would continue to cooperate with the judicial process and present additional arguments during the next date of hearing.

Prosecution Mentions Ceremony Attendance

Representing the prosecution, District Public Prosecutor Dev Vansh Giri informed the court that Singh had attended a sacred thread ceremony at the residence of Guddu Rai, who has been described by authorities as a notorious figure in the region.

The prosecution side argued that the investigation required detailed scrutiny of the circumstances under which the alleged display of weapons took place. Officials also indicated that police were gathering additional material connected to the viral video.

Political Attention Around the Case

The case has once again placed Anant Singh in the spotlight due to his long-standing political influence in Bihar and his history of legal controversies. Singh, who represents the Mokama constituency, has frequently remained in public discussion over criminal allegations and court proceedings during his political career.

Political observers believe the latest case could become significant in Bihar’s political environment, especially with increasing attention on law and order issues involving elected representatives.

For now, the focus remains on the upcoming hearing later this month, when the court is expected to review the police case diary and hear further submissions from both sides before deciding on any interim relief.
