Crime – Bengaluru Police Probe Gang Killing and Triple Murder Investigation

Crime – A fresh wave of violent crime has once again drawn attention to law and order in Bengaluru after a history-sheeter was killed in a suspected gang-related attack, while investigators continue to pursue crucial leads in a separate triple murder case that shocked the city earlier this month.

History-Sheeter Killed in Public Attack

A man with a long criminal record was hacked to death on a busy stretch of road in Bengaluru on Sunday evening in what police believe could be the result of an old gang rivalry. The incident took place near IG Circle on JP Nagar Road and was captured by nearby CCTV cameras, providing investigators with important evidence.

According to police, the victim, identified as Raja, also known as Halmuk Raja, was intercepted by a group of armed men who arrived in a yellow-board vehicle. The attackers allegedly chased him before repeatedly striking him with machetes. Officers said the assault continued even after Raja fell to the ground. The suspects then escaped from the scene in the same vehicle.

People nearby witnessed the incident but were unable to intervene because of the brutality of the attack. Raja was taken to a private hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors later declared him dead.

Gang Rivalry Under Investigation

Investigators are examining whether the killing was linked to a long-running dispute between criminal groups operating in South Bengaluru. Police said Raja had several criminal cases registered against him, including charges related to murder, attempted murder and robbery.

Officials suspect the attack may have been carried out in retaliation for the killing of Kutti, a known rowdy sheeter from Banashankari, nearly ten years ago. Raja had been named as one of the accused in that case. Police are also reviewing his alleged association with the Arasayya gang and possible connections to the Subramanyapura double murder investigation.

Search operations are continuing to identify and arrest everyone involved in Sunday’s attack.

Triple Murder Case Continues to Unfold

In another major investigation, Bengaluru City Police have arrested two people, including a woman, in connection with the murder of three members of the same family at an apartment in Seegehalli under the KR Puram police limits.

The crime came to light on June 22, 2026, after Soma Sundar, aged 52, his wife Muthu Laxmi, aged 48, and their teenage daughter were discovered with multiple stab injuries inside a residential flat.

According to investigators, the victims had visited the apartment of their elder daughter on the previous evening. Police believe that an argument broke out inside the flat before the three victims were allegedly attacked.

Arrests Made After Intensive Search

During the investigation, officers explored multiple leads before locating the woman accused in the case at Puducherry on June 24. Police said she was questioned after her arrest and allegedly disclosed details about the crime, including the suspected involvement of a male associate.

She was produced before a court on June 25, which granted police custody for 15 days to facilitate further investigation.

Based on statements recorded during questioning and other evidence gathered by investigators, police tracked the movements of the second accused, who had reportedly gone into hiding. He was also apprehended in Puducherry on June 25. During interrogation, police said he allegedly admitted to participating in the murders.

Police Appeal for Responsible Reporting

With the investigation still in progress, Bengaluru City Police have urged both the public and media organisations to avoid circulating unverified information about the triple murder case.

Officials said several claims and case-related details have been widely shared across social media platforms and television broadcasts, potentially affecting the ongoing investigation. Police have requested that only officially released information from the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, be treated as authentic until the inquiry is completed.
