NewsFire – A prompt response by the Delhi Fire Service helped prevent a major accident after an electrical fire broke out inside a residential building in northwest Delhi during the early hours of Monday.

Delhi apartment electrical fire contained

An electrical fire that erupted from a meter board on the ground floor of a residential building in Delhi’s Keshav Puram area was brought under control within an hour after firefighters responded swiftly to the emergency. Officials confirmed that two residents were safely evacuated, while no injuries or casualties were reported.

Firefighters Respond Within Minutes

According to the Delhi Fire Service, the emergency call was received at approximately 2:03 am on Monday. Soon after receiving the alert, four fire tenders were dispatched to the location to tackle the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the building.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames, and the operation was successfully completed by around 3 am. Authorities stated that two people trapped inside the premises were rescued safely during the operation, ensuring that the incident ended without any reported injuries.

Investigation Into Cause Continues

Officials have not yet disclosed the exact reason behind the fire. Preliminary information indicates that the flames originated from the electricity meter board installed on the building’s ground floor. Fire department personnel are expected to conduct further examination to determine the precise cause of the incident.

Additional details regarding any property damage or technical findings are awaited from the concerned authorities.

Recent Fire Incident Highlights Ongoing Safety Concerns

The latest incident comes only days after another significant fire emergency in the national capital. On June 24, a large fire broke out at a temporary labour settlement near the Udyog Bhawan area, prompting one of the city’s major firefighting operations.

According to officials, nearly 20 firefighting units were initially deployed, while several additional vehicles later joined the operation to control the rapidly spreading flames. The affected settlement was being used as temporary accommodation for construction workers.

Officials Cite Possible Risk Factors

Speaking after the June 24 operation, Fire Officer Sandeep Duggal explained that the temporary camp contained several potential fire hazards, including the use of small LPG cylinders and extensive electrical wiring inside the makeshift structures. While authorities have not confirmed the exact cause, both factors are being considered during the investigation.

He also stated that around 25 fire vehicles participated in the operation, which continued for nearly three hours before firefighters succeeded in extinguishing the blaze completely.

The two incidents have once again highlighted the importance of electrical safety, regular maintenance of power installations, and strict adherence to fire prevention measures in both residential buildings and temporary accommodation sites across Delhi. Authorities continue to monitor such incidents closely while investigations remain underway.
