Infrastructure – Delhi Approves Over ₹441 Crore Development Push for JJ Clusters
Infrastructure – The Delhi government has unveiled an extensive development programme aimed at upgrading civic infrastructure in JJ clusters across the national capital. With projects valued at more than ₹441.1 crore planned over the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27, the initiative is expected to improve essential public services and living conditions for lakhs of residents.

Major Investment Cleared for Civic Infrastructure
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Friday that the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has approved 1,510 development and construction projects covering JJ clusters throughout the city during the two financial years. According to the government, 1,253 projects worth ₹379.8 crore received approval during 2025-26, while another 257 works amounting to ₹61.3 crore have been sanctioned in the current financial year.
The government stated that these projects are intended to strengthen basic civic infrastructure in settlements that require sustained public investment. Officials believe the works will contribute to safer, cleaner and more convenient neighbourhoods for residents.
Focus on Essential Public Services
The approved projects include the construction and renovation of community toilets and public utility complexes, along with the modernisation of community buildings. Authorities also plan to improve drinking water supply systems, expand sewerage networks, and upgrade internal roads and lanes to improve daily connectivity within residential clusters.
In addition to these works, the programme includes repairs to drainage systems, improvements to street lighting and electrical infrastructure, construction of boundary walls and entrance gates, installation of better stormwater drainage facilities, beautification of public spaces, and several other civic improvement measures.
Development Across Multiple Areas
The government has identified a wide range of JJ clusters across Delhi for priority implementation. These include settlements located in Narela, Timarpur, Adarsh Nagar, Jahangirpuri, Azadpur, Bawana, Rohini, Seemapuri, Trilokpuri, Shahdara, Karawal Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Dwarka, Najafgarh and several other parts of the city.
Officials said the distribution of projects has been planned to ensure that infrastructure improvements reach different regions where public amenities require strengthening. The administration expects these works to improve access to basic facilities while enhancing the overall urban environment.
Welfare Measures Continue Alongside Infrastructure Works
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the objective of the programme extends beyond constructing physical infrastructure. According to her, the broader goal is to improve the quality of everyday life by ensuring better sanitation, safer streets and more reliable public services for people living in JJ clusters.
The government also highlighted its ongoing effort to establish Atal Canteens in several Assembly constituencies across Delhi. These canteens are intended to provide nutritious meals at affordable prices for economically weaker sections, complementing the wider urban development initiatives.
DUSIB Accelerates Project Execution
The Chief Minister said DUSIB is continuing construction, repair and maintenance work related to basic civic infrastructure across various parts of the Capital. Special attention is being given to improving water supply, sewerage systems, drainage networks and public lighting, which remain among the key priorities under the current development programme.
The government expects the approved projects to strengthen civic infrastructure in JJ clusters while supporting long-term improvements in public amenities and urban living standards across Delhi.
