News – Delhi Police Probe Fatal Stabbing of Jharkhand Worker and Separate Shooting Case
News – A fresh police investigation is underway after two separate violent incidents in the national capital claimed the lives of a migrant worker and a young woman, raising concerns over public safety and domestic violence.

A 62-year-old construction worker from Jharkhand was allegedly stabbed to death while travelling to his workplace in Rajasthan after arriving in Delhi. In a separate incident on the same day, a 30-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband in south Delhi, with police investigating both cases independently.
Worker Found Dead Near Dhaula Kuan Subway
According to Delhi Police, passersby alerted authorities early Thursday morning after spotting an injured man lying inside the Dhaula Kuan subway. Officers reached the location and shifted the victim to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased was later identified as Champai Ho, a resident of East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand. Medical examination confirmed that he had suffered multiple stab wounds. Following the post-mortem at DDU Hospital, police registered a murder case at the Delhi Cantonment Police Station.
Journey Interrupted Before Reaching Workplace
Investigators said Champai Ho had travelled by train from Ghatshila in Jharkhand and got off at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. His next destination was Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, where he had been employed as a mason. He had reportedly reached Dhaula Kuan to board a vehicle for the final leg of his journey. Police said he lived alone in rented accommodation in Bhiwadi, while his family continued to reside in Jharkhand.
Suspect Detained During Investigation
Police teams examined CCTV footage from the surrounding area and carried out an extensive search, leading to the arrest of a 48-year-old man identified as Anil Mandal from Bihar’s Banka district. Officials said he was found hiding near the crime scene.
During questioning, investigators learned that the accused had previously worked as an auto-rickshaw driver in Delhi before returning to his native village. He later came back to the capital after family-related disputes and had reportedly been living without permanent shelter. Police stated that there was no known connection between the accused and the victim before the incident.
Robbery Angle Under Examination
Initial findings indicate that the fatal attack may have occurred during an attempted robbery. However, investigators are continuing to review surveillance footage and gather additional evidence to establish the exact sequence of events. Police said all possible motives remain under examination until the investigation is completed.
Woman Allegedly Shot Dead in Sangam Vihar
In another case reported on Thursday afternoon, a 30-year-old woman was allegedly killed after being shot multiple times in the Tigri area of Sangam Vihar in south Delhi. Police identified the accused as her husband, Shubham Rajput, who allegedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the couple had been experiencing frequent domestic disagreements. Investigators are searching for the accused while collecting witness statements and forensic evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police said further legal action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
