Electoral Rolls – Kadapa Speeds Up Voter List Revision Ahead of Final Deadline

Electoral Rolls – The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is moving ahead at a steady pace in Kadapa district, with election authorities intensifying efforts to complete the ongoing verification process before the revised deadline. Officials have already digitised a large majority of the voter enumeration forms, while field-level verification and data correction activities are continuing across the district.

Kadapa electoral roll revision progress

According to district officials, enumeration forms have been distributed to all 1,896,231 registered voters in Kadapa. Of these, 1,646,067 forms have already been digitised, taking the overall progress to 86.81 per cent. The remaining records are being processed as officials work to complete the exercise within the stipulated timeline set by the Election Commission.

Verification Process Gains Momentum

Alongside digitisation, election teams are carrying out an extensive review of voter records to improve the accuracy of the electoral rolls. During the verification exercise, officials re-examined 250,109 ASD (Absent, Shifted and Deceased) entries to confirm the status of each voter. The review is aimed at ensuring that only eligible voters remain on the electoral rolls while removing inaccuracies wherever necessary.

The scrutiny has also identified 112,679 cases classified as “No Mapping,” where voter details require proper linkage to polling stations or records. In addition, officials detected 340,730 logical inconsistencies in the database. Corrective action has already begun to resolve these issues and improve the reliability of the electoral records before the revision process concludes.

Measures to Improve Electoral Records

Apart from record verification, election authorities are also focusing on enhancing the overall quality of voter information. This includes improving the clarity of voter photographs, correcting data entry mistakes and updating personal details wherever required.

Officials are simultaneously reviewing polling station arrangements to ensure they remain balanced and practical for voters. The rationalisation exercise is expected to help improve accessibility and reduce administrative challenges during future elections.

These measures form part of the broader effort to maintain an accurate, transparent and updated electoral database in line with Election Commission guidelines.

Deadline Extended Until July 24

To provide additional time for completing pending formalities, the Election Commission has extended the Special Intensive Revision process until July 24. The extension is intended to help voters who have not yet completed documentation or verification requirements and to allow officials sufficient time to finalise pending corrections.

Authorities have appealed to eligible voters to cooperate with election staff and complete any remaining verification procedures without delay. Timely participation by voters is expected to support the preparation of an accurate and comprehensive electoral roll.

Collector Reviews Progress and Issues Directions

Kadapa District Collector Sridhar Cherukuri recently reviewed the status of the revision exercise and instructed Election Registration Officers to speed up the remaining work. He directed officials to achieve 100 per cent completion of the district-level revision by July 22, ahead of the extended closing date announced by the Election Commission.

The Collector emphasised the importance of intensive door-to-door verification, faster digitisation of pending forms and prompt disposal of unresolved cases. He also stressed close coordination between Election Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers to ensure every eligible voter is properly covered during the ongoing revision drive.

With only a limited period remaining, district authorities are continuing their efforts to complete verification, correct discrepancies and strengthen the accuracy of the electoral rolls before the Special Intensive Revision process comes to an end
