VehicleTheft – East Delhi Police Crack Major Two-Wheeler Theft Network
VehicleTheft – East Delhi Police have achieved a major success in their ongoing campaign against vehicle theft after arresting an alleged serial vehicle thief and recovering four stolen two-wheelers linked to multiple criminal cases across the district.

According to police officials, the operation resulted in the resolution of four separate motor vehicle theft cases that had been registered at different police stations in East Delhi. The recovered vehicles were reportedly stolen from areas falling under Kalyan Puri, Shakarpur, Laxmi Nagar and Preet Vihar police jurisdictions.
Coordinated Operation Leads to Arrest
The action was carried out by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the East District Police, which had been monitoring criminal activities related to vehicle theft for an extended period. The team worked under the supervision of senior officers and focused on identifying individuals suspected of involvement in property-related crimes.
Investigators had intensified surveillance and preventive checks across several locations after receiving intelligence inputs regarding active vehicle theft operations in the district. These efforts ultimately led officers to a suspect believed to be involved in repeated theft incidents.
Secret Information Proves Crucial
Police officials stated that on June 13, a special checking drive was underway near Ghazipur Chowk when the team received specific information about a man allegedly moving around with a stolen Honda Activa scooter.
Acting on the tip-off, officers quickly organised a surveillance operation near Nala Road in Rajbir Colony, Ghazipur. During the exercise, police noticed a man pushing a white scooter that did not have registration plates attached.
The suspect was immediately stopped and questioned. Verification of the scooter’s details revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in a case registered at Kalyan Puri Police Station.
Additional Recoveries During Investigation
Following his detention, investigators carried out an extensive interrogation. During questioning, the accused allegedly disclosed information about other stolen vehicles hidden at different locations.
Based on these inputs, police launched a recovery operation in a park near Block-18, Trilokpuri, close to the Dharamshila Red Light area. During the search, officers recovered three more stolen two-wheelers.
Subsequent verification confirmed that the vehicles were connected to theft cases registered at Shakarpur, Laxmi Nagar and Preet Vihar police stations, providing a significant breakthrough in pending investigations.
Suspected Interstate Links Under Probe
Police identified the arrested individual as Akash, 30, a resident of Khichripur in Kalyanpuri, Delhi. Investigators believe he was actively engaged in stealing and concealing two-wheelers for illegal financial gain.
Officials also suspect that the accused may have links to a broader interstate vehicle theft network. Authorities are currently examining possible connections with other individuals who may have assisted in theft operations or handled stolen property after the crimes were committed.
Investigation Continues
Police officials said the successful recovery of the four vehicles highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing, surveillance measures and preventive enforcement activities.
Further investigation is underway to identify additional associates and uncover the complete chain involved in the alleged theft racket. Authorities are also working to trace potential buyers and receivers of stolen vehicles.
With the recovery of all four two-wheelers, police have successfully solved the corresponding theft cases and are continuing efforts to dismantle any larger network connected to the operation.
