Healthcare – Delhi Approves Land Allocation for Health Centres and New Gaushala Project
Healthcare – The Delhi administration has cleared the allocation of Gram Sabha land for the establishment of two Ayushman Arogya Mandir health centres and a new gaushala in different parts of the national capital. The approval was granted by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu as part of efforts to strengthen public services and community facilities in rural areas of Delhi.

Land Approved for Gaushala in North Delhi
Officials said that a large parcel of Gram Sabha land located in Sungarpur village of North Delhi has been earmarked for the construction of a gaushala. The approved land measures 28 bighas and five biswa and has been allotted for a period of 99 years. The facility is expected to support the care and shelter of cattle while serving the needs of the surrounding rural population.
Traditional land measurement units such as bigha and biswa continue to be widely used in agricultural and village regions across several northern Indian states, including Delhi’s rural belts.
New Health Centres Planned in Rural Areas
In a separate decision, the administration has approved the use of Gram Sabha land for setting up two Ayushman Arogya Mandir health centres. These facilities will be developed in Mungeshpur village, located in the Outer North district, and Fatehpur Beri village in South Delhi.
Authorities have approved the land allocation for these healthcare projects on a nominal licence fee of ₹1. The move is aimed at ensuring that essential health services become more accessible to residents living in the city’s peripheral and rural regions.
Focus on Strengthening Primary Healthcare
The upcoming Ayushman Arogya Mandir centres are expected to enhance the delivery of primary healthcare services by offering easier access to medical consultations, preventive care, and basic treatment facilities. Officials believe the centres will help reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for routine healthcare needs.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure across Delhi and provide quality medical services closer to local communities. By expanding healthcare facilities in underserved areas, authorities aim to support better health outcomes and improve the overall well-being of residents.
Rural Development Measures Continue
The latest approvals reflect an ongoing focus on utilizing available community land for projects that address public welfare requirements. While the gaushala will cater to livestock care and management needs, the new health centres are expected to play an important role in strengthening healthcare access in rural parts of the capital.
Officials indicated that these projects are intended to serve local communities over the long term and contribute to the development of essential public infrastructure in Delhi’s village areas.
