The incident has raised fresh concerns about security and the fragile peace in the region.

Blast Strikes Sleeping Family in Moirang Area

Officials reported that the incident occurred around 1 am in the Moirang Tronglaobi locality. An explosive device was allegedly thrown at a house while the occupants were asleep. The sudden blast caused severe damage and chaos in the quiet residential area.

Two children—a five-year-old boy and a six-month-old infant girl—lost their lives in the explosion. Their mother sustained injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released detailed information about her condition but confirmed she is receiving medical care.

Government Condemns Attack, Promises Action

Reacting strongly to the incident, the state’s chief minister described the attack as inhumane and deeply disturbing. He called it a direct attempt to disrupt the relative calm that had been maintained in recent times.

In his statement, the chief minister assured that those behind the attack would be identified and brought to justice. He emphasized that such acts would not be tolerated and that strict legal action would follow. The administration, he added, remains committed to safeguarding citizens and maintaining order across the state.

Appeal for Unity Amid Rising Tensions

The chief minister also urged residents to remain calm and united during this difficult time. Stressing the importance of collective harmony, he appealed to the public not to fall into divisions that could worsen the situation.

Officials reiterated that maintaining peace requires cooperation between communities and authorities, especially in areas that have previously experienced unrest.

Public Anger Erupts in Local Protests

Following the incident, anger among local residents quickly escalated. On Tuesday morning, protests broke out near a petrol pump in the area. Demonstrators set fire to two oil tankers and a truck, expressing outrage over the attack and demanding stronger security measures.

The situation intensified further as protesters burned tyres outside the Moirang Police Station. A temporary police outpost in the vicinity was also damaged during the unrest.

Security Forces Deployed to Control Situation

In response to the escalating tensions, security personnel were deployed across the affected area. Their primary aim has been to restore order and prevent further violence. Officials confirmed that monitoring has been increased, and additional measures are being taken to stabilize the situation.

Authorities are also investigating the source of the attack, though no group has claimed responsibility so far. The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of civilians in conflict-prone regions.

Ongoing Concerns Over Safety and Stability

The tragic loss of young lives has deeply affected the local community and renewed discussions around civilian safety. While the government has assured firm action, the incident underscores the challenges of maintaining long-term peace in sensitive areas.

As investigations continue, residents remain on edge, hoping for swift justice and stronger safeguards to prevent such tragedies in the future.
