Crime – Husband Arrested After Fatal Assault on Wife in South Delhi Home

Crime –  A tragic case of domestic violence has emerged from South Delhi, where a woman lost her life following a heated argument with her husband. The incident, which took place in the Pul Prahladpur area, has raised serious concerns about rising cases of household conflicts turning fatal.

Incident Reported Late Sunday Night

According to police officials, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on March 29. The victim, identified as Poonam, was allegedly attacked by her husband, Suresh, during a domestic dispute. Authorities stated that the accused used a small LPG cylinder to strike her on the head, causing fatal injuries. She died on the spot.

Police teams reached the location shortly after receiving information and took the accused into custody at the scene itself. The couple had reportedly shifted to the DDA housing complex only a month ago and were still settling into their new residence.

Children Present During the Incident

The couple has two children. One of them lives with their grandmother, while their younger child, an 18-month-old infant, was present in the house at the time of the incident. Police officials confirmed that the accused was found sitting inside the house holding the child when they arrived.

The presence of the infant during such a violent act has added another disturbing dimension to the case, highlighting the psychological impact such incidents can have on children.

Neighbours Describe Disturbing Scene

Residents in the area reported hearing loud screams coming from the house before the situation escalated. Concerned neighbours gathered outside and attempted to intervene. Since the door was locked from the inside, it had to be forced open with the help of the landlord.

Upon entering, they found the woman lying motionless on the floor, with the LPG cylinder nearby. The accused was reportedly sitting close to the body, holding the child. The scene left neighbours shocked and distressed.

One local resident stated that the couple had been living in the area for a short period and that there were suspicions of frequent arguments between them. Some neighbours also suggested that the husband’s alleged doubts and suspicions may have triggered the fatal confrontation.

Police Investigation Underway

Initial findings indicate that extreme suspicion could have been a key factor behind the crime. However, investigators are examining all possible angles, including whether the act was spontaneous or pre-planned.
