TN: Ahead of today’s assembly session, the cabinet will likely make important choices
TN: This year’s Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly will meet for the first time on January 20. Governor R.N. Ravi is expected to speak to the House on that day. On Tuesday, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will lead a Cabinet meeting in the Secretariat in advance of the Assembly session.

All of the ministers are anticipated to attend this first Cabinet meeting of the year.
The Cabinet will discuss important matters that will be discussed during the Assembly session, as is customary. The Governor’s speech, which is often considered and approved by the Cabinet prior to being given in the House, is one of the primary topics on the agenda.
It is unclear, nonetheless, whether Governor R.N. Ravi would deliver the whole government-prepared speech this year. In the past, disagreements between the state administration and Raj Bhavan about the speech’s substance have caused controversy, with the governor either omitting or altering some parts.
In light of this, the Cabinet talks are seen to be very important. It is anticipated that the gathering would also examine the grievances and accusations made by opposition parties over different government initiatives.
In order to combat criticism from the opposing benches during the session, ministers are expected to finalize the facts and comments that will be delivered in the Assembly.
The Chief Minister’s newly launched secured pension system is another important subject that will probably be discussed. It has been reported that the Cabinet has already approved the plan.
In the interim budget that will be presented during the Assembly session, ministers are anticipated to talk about how money will be allocated for the guaranteed pension scheme.
The Cabinet may also discuss suggestions to satisfy the expectations and aspirations of other groups, such as striking sanitation workers and other employee groups.
It is anticipated that the talks would focus heavily on measures to address labor difficulties and welfare-related concerns.
The Cabinet meeting is seen as politically significant since it may be possible to publish the Assembly election calendar before the end of February. The government’s legislative and administrative goals in the lead-up to the elections are probably going to be shaped by the decisions made at this conference.
