Crime Investigation – Kanpur Police Probe Hotel Assault Allegations and Cyber Crime Case
Crime Investigation – A police investigation is underway in Kanpur after a woman accused a hotel manager and several others of sexual assault, while authorities in Hardoi uncovered an extensive online pornography racket allegedly involving minors and large-scale financial transactions.

Police Register Case Following Woman’s Complaint
A criminal case has been filed at Kalyanpur Police Station in Kanpur after a woman alleged that she was physically assaulted and sexually abused by a hotel manager along with two to three other individuals. Senior police officials confirmed that the accused persons were detained shortly after the complaint was received and are currently being questioned.
According to officials, the woman approached the police with serious allegations linked to an incident at a local hotel. Authorities acted immediately by recording her statement and initiating legal procedures under relevant sections of the law.
CCTV Footage Examined During Initial Inquiry
West Kanpur Deputy Commissioner of Police SM Qasim Abidi stated that investigators collected electronic evidence, including CCTV footage from the hotel premises, as part of the preliminary inquiry. Police said the footage reviewed so far did not initially match the allegations made in the complaint.
Despite this, officers confirmed that the investigation remains active and all aspects of the case are being examined carefully. The woman was sent for medical examination, and the accused individuals remain in police custody while questioning continues.
Officials also stated that additional evidence is being reviewed and legal proceedings will move forward based on the outcome of the investigation and forensic findings.
Authorities Continue Evidence Collection
Police sources indicated that investigators are examining witness accounts, digital records, and surveillance material connected to the incident. Officials emphasized that no final conclusion has been reached and that all evidence will be evaluated before further legal action is taken.
The case has drawn attention locally as authorities continue efforts to verify the sequence of events and establish accountability based on available proof.
Hardoi Cyber Police Expose Online Pornography Network
In a separate development, the Cyber Police Station in Hardoi recently dismantled an alleged online pornography network that investigators say operated through multiple social media and messaging platforms. Officials claimed the operation involved the circulation of objectionable material targeting minors and financial dealings worth several crores.
Police arrested the main accused, identified as Vikas Singh, a B.Tech graduate from the 2019 batch. Authorities said the investigation began after cyber officials received information on May 17 regarding the online distribution of inappropriate content among underage users.
Social Media Platforms Used for Illegal Activity
Hardoi City Circle Officer Ankit Mishra stated that a formal case was registered immediately after the complaint was received. Special teams were formed to trace and arrest the suspect.
During interrogation, investigators reportedly discovered that the accused had been using widely accessible digital platforms to distribute illegal material to a large online audience. Police are now examining devices, transaction records, and online communication linked to the operation.
Officials added that the investigation may expand further as authorities attempt to identify additional individuals connected to the network. Cyber experts are also reviewing data recovered during the inquiry to determine the scale of the operation and whether more victims or accomplices are involved.
Focus on Digital Safety and Law Enforcement
The two separate cases have once again highlighted concerns related to public safety, cyber monitoring, and crimes involving vulnerable individuals. Law enforcement agencies in Uttar Pradesh have stated that strict legal action will be taken in both matters after the completion of investigations.
Police officials urged citizens to report suspicious online activity and cooperate with authorities during ongoing inquiries. Investigations in both Kanpur and Hardoi remain in progress.
