Road-Accident – Three Devotees Die, Several Injured in Andhra Pradesh Highway Crash
Road-Accident – Three people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries in separate road accidents reported from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, prompting police to begin investigations into the incidents.
Three devotees, including an eight-year-old boy, were killed after a truck crashed into the van they were travelling in on a highway in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district. The collision took place shortly after midnight near Chelluru when the truck struck the stationary vehicle with significant force.
Truck Collision Leaves Multiple Pilgrims Injured
According to police officials, the impact was so severe that the truck pushed the van for nearly 500 meters before coming to a halt. Three occupants died instantly at the scene, while 13 others suffered injuries of varying degrees.
The group consisted of 16 pilgrims from three families living in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts. They were travelling to the Majji Gauramma Temple in Rayagada, Odisha, for a religious pilgrimage when the accident occurred.
The deceased were identified as Chintapalli Rambabu alias Ramanaidu (50), Majji Narayana Rao (50), and B. Mohan Naidu (8). The injured were shifted to the Government Hospital in Vizianagaram for treatment. Hospital authorities said one injured person remains in critical condition.
Police Launch Investigation Into Vizianagaram Crash
Police have registered a case to determine the circumstances that led to the accident. Investigators are examining factors including the movement of the truck and the condition in which the van was parked at the time of the collision. Officials said further details would emerge after the investigation progresses.
Separate Fatal Accident Reported in Krishna District
In another road accident in Andhra Pradesh, one person died after a car crashed into a stationary truck on the Chennai-Kolkata National Highway near Bommaluru in Krishna district during the early hours of Tuesday.
Police identified the deceased as Nunna Suresh, Managing Director of Tirumala Educational Institutions in Rajamahendravaram. He died at the scene due to the impact of the collision.
His wife, who was travelling in the front passenger seat, sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. The couple had been travelling from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram when the accident occurred.
Authorities have begun investigating the incident to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the collision.
Telangana Bus Crash Injures Twelve Passengers
A separate road mishap was also reported from neighbouring Telangana, where 12 passengers were injured after a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus veered off the road and struck a roadside tree in Jagtial district.
The accident occurred near the Metpally Police Station limits while the bus was travelling from Nizamabad to Warangal. Preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle before it hit the tree.
All injured passengers were shifted to a hospital in Metpally for treatment. Officials said none of the injured passengers were immediately reported dead, though medical teams continued to monitor their condition.
Authorities Stress Continued Road Safety Measures
Police in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have initiated separate investigations into the accidents. Officials are expected to examine vehicle conditions, driver actions, and other contributing factors before releasing their final findings.
The series of accidents highlights the continued importance of road safety, especially during late-night and early-morning travel when visibility and driver alertness can become critical factors in preventing serious collisions.
