Mohan- Bhagwat to Address Youth Conference on Leadership and Nation Building
Mohan- Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to interact with thousands of students during one of the world’s largest youth-driven conferences on Thursday in Mumbai. His address will focus on leadership, nation-building, and India’s contribution to promoting global unity. The event is expected to bring together students from across the country for discussions aimed at encouraging civic awareness and responsible leadership among the younger generation.
Conference Focuses on Youth Participation and Global Harmony
The opening session of the annual conference, organised by the International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN), is centered on the theme, “The Role of Youth in Uniting the World, the Indian Way.” Students between the ages of 15 and 19 from schools and colleges across India will participate in the programme, creating a platform for dialogue on national development, social responsibility, and international cooperation.
The gathering comes at a time when increasing numbers of young Indians are taking an active interest in issues related to governance, democracy, leadership, and public policy. Organisers believe such interactions provide students with opportunities to better understand institutions, ideas, and the responsibilities associated with future leadership roles.
More Than 2,000 Students Expected in Mumbai
According to organisers, over 2,000 students representing more than 100 cities are expected to attend the conference at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. The event also marks the 15th anniversary of IIMUN, which has expanded significantly since its inception and now attracts participants from educational institutions across the country.
Bhagwat’s session will form part of the inaugural ceremony, where he is expected to engage directly with students and share his views on leadership and India’s evolving role in fostering unity across communities and nations.
IIMUN Highlights Long-Term Leadership Development
Speaking earlier about the conference, IIMUN founder Rishabh Shah said the organisation has consistently worked to introduce students to India’s values while encouraging them to develop leadership skills. He noted that nearly 30,000 students have been associated with the organisation over the years through its various educational and leadership initiatives.
Shah also pointed out that this will be the third time Mohan Bhagwat has participated in an IIMUN programme designed for young people, reflecting the organisation’s continued effort to expose students to a broad range of public figures and perspectives.
Organisers Encourage Understanding of Diverse Ideologies
Discussing the importance of balanced learning, Shah said young people should study institutions with different ideological backgrounds, including organisations such as the RSS and the Indian National Congress. According to him, understanding multiple viewpoints enables students to develop informed opinions and strengthens democratic engagement.
He added that regardless of ideological differences, the larger objective should remain the development of responsible young leaders committed to India’s progress. Shah emphasised that the present generation can learn valuable lessons from influential national figures including Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Swami Vivekananda, and Mahatma Gandhi while shaping their own approach to leadership.
Several Distinguished Guests to Attend the Event
Apart from Mohan Bhagwat, the conference is expected to feature several prominent personalities from different fields. Actor Shabana Azmi, actor Boman Irani, and former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud are among those scheduled to participate. Their presence is intended to expose students to diverse professional experiences and perspectives, reinforcing the conference’s objective of encouraging thoughtful dialogue, leadership, and active citizenship among India’s youth.
