Investigation – Guest House Owner’s Past Case Comes Under Scrutiny After Fire Incident
Investigation – The ongoing probe into the recent fire at Flourish Stay B&B has brought renewed attention to an earlier criminal case involving the property’s owner, Lovekesh Bajaj. Investigators have confirmed that Bajaj was previously arrested in connection with a case related to the alleged misuse of his residential address by Bangladeshi nationals seeking Indian identity documents through fraudulent means.

According to police records, the case was registered on January 29 last year after authorities uncovered that two Bangladeshi women and a minor child had been residing illegally in Delhi using forged Indian documents. Officials identified the women as Sweety Sarkar, also known by several aliases, and her daughter Pushpo Sarkar, who likewise used multiple identities. The child involved was Pushpo’s minor son.
Fraudulent Documents Investigation
Police officials stated that the individuals had allegedly secured Indian identity papers, including Aadhaar cards and passports, through false information. During the investigation, authorities discovered that one of the passports had been obtained using the address of a property located in Chattarpur Enclave.
Further verification revealed that the property belonged to Lovekesh Bajaj, although he was residing at a different address in Saket at the time. Investigators subsequently examined the circumstances under which the address had been used for official documentation.
Owner’s Alleged Role in the Earlier Case
During questioning, Bajaj reportedly admitted that he had knowingly allowed the accused individuals to use his property address in exchange for money. Police allege that this arrangement enabled them to obtain Indian identification documents and continue residing in the country illegally.
Following the investigation, authorities arrested Bajaj along with Sweety Sarkar and Pushpo Sarkar. Police sources confirmed that a charge sheet has already been filed against all three accused individuals. In addition, a separate police information report concerning the minor child was submitted for further legal consideration under applicable procedures.
Forensic Teams Continue Fire Probe
Meanwhile, forensic specialists and Crime Branch officers revisited Flourish Stay B&B on Friday as part of the ongoing investigation into the fire incident. Teams carried out a detailed inspection of the premises and collected evidence that could help determine the exact cause of the blaze.
Officials examined several critical areas, including fire-damaged rooms, stairways, electrical installations, switch panels and emergency exit routes. The investigation is also focusing on whether the building complied with prescribed fire safety standards and other regulatory requirements.
Focus on Rapid Spread of Fire
Authorities are working to understand how the flames moved through the building so quickly. Technical experts are reviewing structural conditions, electrical systems and other factors that may have contributed to the intensity and speed of the fire.
Investigators are also assessing whether any lapses in maintenance, safety compliance or operational practices may have played a role in the incident. As part of this process, agencies are examining available records and evidence connected to the property.
Awaiting Key Forensic Findings
Sources familiar with the investigation said officials are exploring all possible angles, including whether there is any relevance between the owner’s previous legal troubles and potential regulatory concerns linked to the guest house.
However, authorities have stressed that conclusions will depend on the outcome of forensic examinations and technical assessments currently underway. Investigators believe the reports could provide crucial insights into both the cause of the fire and any possible violations associated with the property.
