Politics – Yogi Adityanath Targets Opposition While Unveiling Major Development Projects

Politics – Yogi Adityanath launched a fresh political attack on the Opposition while highlighting his government’s focus on infrastructure, cultural heritage, and religious tourism during a public event in Barabanki.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday criticised the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), alleging that previous governments followed policies that favoured one section of society while overlooking the state’s religious and cultural heritage. Speaking during the inauguration and foundation stone laying of 82 development projects worth more than Rs 542 crore in Barabanki, he said his administration is committed to strengthening development alongside preserving India’s traditional values.

Opposition Accused of Appeasement Politics

Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister claimed that the Congress and SP governments promoted what he described as selective secularism. Referring to their tenure, he alleged that resources were prioritised for constructing boundary walls around graveyards, while religious processions such as the Kanwar Yatra, Ram Navami, and Janmashtami celebrations faced restrictions.

Yogi Adityanath said such an approach should be left behind and called for building a secure and prosperous India on the foundation of Sanatan Dharma. According to him, preserving the country’s cultural traditions is closely linked to national progress and social stability.

Focus on Barabanki’s Historical Identity

Highlighting Barabanki’s historical significance, the Chief Minister said the district is known for landmarks including Lord Lodheshwar Mahadev Temple, the ancient Parijat tree, and the legacy of celebrated hockey player K.D. Singh ‘Babu’. He maintained that these important symbols of the region did not receive adequate attention for several decades after Independence.

He stated that the present government has taken steps to restore and promote these sites, describing them as valuable parts of Uttar Pradesh’s cultural identity that deserve long-term conservation and public support.

Temple Corridor and Religious Tourism

The Chief Minister said his administration has approved the construction of a grand corridor for the Lord Lodheshwar Mahadev Temple. He explained that the project is intended to improve facilities for devotees visiting the shrine while encouraging religious tourism in the region.

According to him, investments in such projects not only preserve cultural heritage but also create economic opportunities by attracting visitors and supporting local businesses. He contrasted this approach with earlier governments, alleging that similar financial support was not extended to significant religious destinations.

Heritage Conservation and Sports Legacy

Yogi Adityanath also referred to the residence of former Olympic hockey star K.D. Singh ‘Babu’, claiming it had once faced the possibility of being sold. He said the state government intervened to protect the property and is now working to preserve the memories associated with the sporting icon.

The Chief Minister added that the conservation of the historic Parijat tree remains another important initiative under the current administration. He said safeguarding both cultural and historical landmarks is essential for preserving the state’s rich legacy for future generations.

Sanatan Dharma and Development Vision

Reiterating his government’s broader vision, Yogi Adityanath described Sanatan culture as an integral part of India’s identity. He said the country’s future depends on protecting its civilisational heritage while continuing development across sectors.

The Chief Minister further alleged that previous governments neglected several important religious and historical locations, including Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahadeva, Gola Gokarnnath, and sites associated with Maharaja Suheldev and Bijli Pasi. He maintained that the current government has worked to improve these locations while ensuring that religious festivals across the state are celebrated peacefully and with adequate security arrangements.
