IllegalLiquor – Delhi Police have taken decisive action against the illegal liquor trade in the city’s Kalyanpuri locality, detaining a young suspect and seizing a substantial quantity of unlawfully stored alcohol. The operation, carried out by the East District’s Special Staff, was based on targeted intelligence and field surveillance, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Raid Conducted After Intelligence Inputs

Authorities stated that the accused, identified as 19-year-old Rahul, is a resident of Kalyanpuri and was allegedly overseeing a site used for stocking and distributing illicit liquor. Acting on specific information, police teams intensified monitoring in the area before launching the raid.

The operation involved a coordinated team including Sub-Inspectors Vinod and Gaurav, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurvinder, Head Constable Vineet, and Constable Naresh. The team functioned under the supervision of Inspector Jitendra Malik and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pawan Kumar, ensuring a planned and swift execution of the raid.

Accused Apprehended During Night Patrol

On the night of May 3, while conducting routine patrols, officers received a tip-off regarding illegal liquor sales in Block 11 of Kalyanpuri. Responding quickly, the team set up surveillance near the suspected location.

Police reported that Rahul was spotted allegedly selling liquor outside his residence. Upon noticing the presence of officers, he attempted to escape but was promptly caught at the scene. His immediate apprehension prevented any potential destruction of evidence or further distribution.

Significant Quantity of Illicit Liquor Recovered

Following the arrest, police conducted a detailed search of the premises, leading to the recovery of a large stock of illegal alcohol. Officials disclosed that the seized items included 275 quarter bottles, 24 half bottles, 84 beer bottles, and nine beer cans.

Notably, the recovered bottles were labeled for sale in Haryana only, indicating unauthorized transportation across state borders and illegal distribution within Delhi. The total seizure amounted to around 16 cartons, estimated to contain approximately 120 litres of liquor and beer.

Investigation Points to Larger Network

The scale of the recovery has raised concerns about a broader supply chain operating behind the scenes. Police believe the seized stock was part of an organized network involved in cross-border liquor smuggling.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 157/26 at Kalyanpuri Police Station under Section 33 of the Delhi Excise Act. Investigators are now focusing on tracing the origin of the liquor, identifying suppliers, and uncovering other individuals connected to the operation.

Ongoing Efforts to Curb Illegal Trade

Officials emphasized that such enforcement actions are part of a sustained effort to eliminate illegal liquor activities in residential areas. Unauthorized alcohol sales not only violate excise laws but also pose risks to public health and safety.

Police further stated that Rahul is currently being questioned to determine his level of involvement and any links to wider smuggling networks operating across regions. Authorities are also examining whether similar operations are active in nearby areas.

Strengthening Surveillance Across the Capital

The Kalyanpuri raid highlights the continued vigilance of Delhi Police in addressing illegal trade practices. Enhanced surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated field operations remain key strategies in tackling such offenses.

Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict monitoring and taking prompt action against offenders. Officials have also urged residents to report suspicious activities to help curb unlawful practices in their communities.
