According to the district police, the accused, identified as Chandrapal, had been called in for questioning regarding the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl. During his time at the station, he reportedly requested permission to use the restroom. Officials stated that he was escorted by a guard and a Provincial Armed Constabulary (PRD) personnel.

In what police described as unexpected circumstances, Chandrapal allegedly hanged himself inside the restroom. The guard on duty quickly alerted senior officers after discovering the situation. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors later declared him dead during treatment.

Immediate Action Taken Against Police Personnel

Following the incident, senior officials acted swiftly. Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha confirmed that both the Station House Officer and the duty constable present at the time have been suspended with immediate effect. A case has also been registered against them under relevant legal provisions.

Authorities stated that all standard procedures are being reviewed, and accountability is being established. Officials have secured CCTV footage from inside the police station to assist in the investigation and to understand the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

Background of the Case

Police records indicate that Chandrapal was originally from Ghaziabad and had been accused of luring and abducting a minor girl. A complaint regarding the alleged crime was filed on April 18 at Chandpa Police Station in Hathras.

Based on the complaint submitted by the girl’s family, a case was registered under applicable sections of the law. Police had initiated efforts to locate the girl and investigate the role of the accused in the case.
