CrimeNews – Delhi Police Arrest Third Key Suspect in Rashid Murder Case
CrimeNews – Delhi Police have arrested a third alleged key suspect linked to the murder of a young man in Northeast Delhi after a brief gunfight near Khajuri Khas Metro Station. The accused, identified as 24-year-old Harun Saifi, was taken into custody during a police operation conducted in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to officials, Harun, a resident of Bhagirathi Vihar, suffered a bullet injury to his leg during the encounter and was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Police said he was among the main accused wanted in connection with the killing of Rashid, who was shot dead earlier this month in the Dayalpur area.
Police Operation Leads to Arrest
Investigators said the Special Staff of the North-East District received specific intelligence regarding Harun’s movements. Acting on the information, a police team launched a targeted operation in the area between Signature Bridge and Khajuri Khas Metro Station.
As officers attempted to intercept him, an exchange of fire reportedly took place. Following the brief confrontation, police managed to overpower and detain the accused. Authorities stated that the operation was carried out successfully without any injury to police personnel.
Weapon and Vehicle Seized
During the arrest, police recovered a semi-automatic pistol, two live cartridges, and a scooty allegedly being used by the accused. The recovered items have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials said Harun was wanted in a murder case registered at Dayalpur Police Station. The case was filed under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with sections of the Arms Act.
Murder Linked to Gang Rivalry
Police investigations indicate that Rashid was killed on June 15 in Northeast Delhi. Preliminary findings suggest that the murder stemmed from a long-running dispute between rival criminal groups.
According to investigators, tensions had existed between the Anwar Thakur-Harun faction and the Naseem group for some time. Authorities believe the fatal shooting was connected to this ongoing gang conflict, though further inquiries are continuing to establish the complete sequence of events.
Earlier Arrests in the Same Case
The arrest of Harun marks another significant development in the murder investigation. Earlier, on June 18, the Delhi Police Crime Branch apprehended two other wanted suspects allegedly involved in the case.
Those arrests were also made following a brief exchange of fire during a separate police operation. With Harun now in custody, police have arrested three principal accused believed to be connected to the murder.
Investigators are continuing to examine evidence, question suspects, and gather additional information to strengthen the case. Authorities have indicated that efforts remain underway to identify any other individuals who may have played a role in the crime.
Family Seeks Strict Punishment
Following the killing of Rashid, his family had demanded the strongest possible legal action against those responsible. The victim’s father publicly expressed his grief and urged authorities to ensure severe punishment for the perpetrators.
The case has attracted considerable attention in the region, with police maintaining that all aspects of the investigation are being pursued in accordance with legal procedures.
