Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated after a meeting at Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge’s residence that discussions authorised by the Congress Legislative Party had been completed. He confirmed that the official announcement regarding Kerala’s new Chief Minister would be made on Thursday.

Among the three leading names, the role of Venugopal generated the most discussion during the day. His emergence as a strong contender reportedly changed internal political calculations and contributed to the delay in announcing the final decision.
Despite growing speculation, Venugopal stayed away from the high-profile meetings involving Rahul Gandhi and Kharge.
