Assault Case – Four Arrested After Woman Reports Blackmail in Jagtial
Assault Case – Police in Telangana’s Jagtial district have arrested four men in connection with an alleged assault and blackmail case involving a woman within the limits of Mallial police station. Officials said two of the arrested men are rowdy-sheeters with previous criminal cases. All four accused were presented before a court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Woman’s Complaint Leads to Police Case
According to police, the incident was reported on August 3 after the woman visited a residence in the Mallial police station area with another person. Police allege that four men entered the house while the two were there and attempted to assault the woman.
The accused have been identified as Shivaratri Nagesh, Srikanth, Anjaiah and Mallesh. Police said Nagesh and Srikanth were allegedly directly involved in the assault, while Anjaiah and Mallesh reportedly remained outside the residence.
Video Allegedly Used for Blackmail
Police said Nagesh and Srikanth allegedly recorded a video involving the woman and the person who had accompanied her. The other person was subsequently asked to leave, following which the two accused allegedly assaulted the woman inside the house.
Investigators further alleged that the recorded footage was later used to threaten and blackmail the woman. Police said the accused contacted her by phone and allegedly sent the videos to her as part of the intimidation.
Case Registered After Woman Approaches Police
The woman later approached Mallial police and submitted a complaint detailing the alleged assault and subsequent blackmail. Acting on her complaint, police registered a case and began an investigation into the allegations.
Mallial police said all four accused were taken into custody after the complaint was received. They were later produced before a court, which ordered their judicial remand.
Two Accused Have Previous Criminal Records
Police said Shivaratri Nagesh and Srikanth have previous criminal records and are listed as rowdy-sheeters. According to an official, Nagesh has 13 previous cases registered against him, while Srikanth is also facing several cases.
The police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the alleged assault, the recording of the video and its subsequent use in the reported blackmail attempt.
Investigation Continues
Authorities said further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and verify the allegations made in the complaint. Police are also looking into the roles allegedly played by each of the four arrested men.
