AndhraPradeshWeather – Cloudy Skies and Rainfall Likely Across Several Andhra Districts
AndhraPradeshWeather – The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has forecast cloudy weather and moderate rainfall across several parts of the state on Thursday as a weather trough continues to influence regional conditions. According to APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, the trough currently stretches from East Vidarbha and Telangana to South Coastal Andhra, creating favorable conditions for rain-bearing clouds and localized thunderstorms.

Rain Forecast for Coastal and Southern Districts
Weather officials expect scattered light to moderate showers in multiple districts along the Coastal Andhra region. Similar conditions are also likely in Chittoor and Tirupati districts. Residents in these areas may experience intermittent rainfall accompanied by overcast skies throughout the day.
In addition, isolated thunderstorms with light rain are predicted in parts of Bapatla, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa and Annamayya districts. Authorities noted that weather activity could vary from place to place, with some locations receiving brief but intense showers.
Public Asked to Remain Cautious During Thunderstorms
Disaster management officials have urged people to exercise caution during periods of thunderstorm activity and strong winds. Residents have been advised not to seek shelter under trees or remain near large advertising hoardings, as gusty winds could increase the risk of accidents.
Authorities also warned the public to avoid contact with fallen or damaged power lines. Farmers, agricultural workers and cattle herders have been specifically advised to monitor weather conditions closely and move to safer locations immediately when dark thunderclouds begin to develop.
Farmers and Rural Communities on Alert
Given the possibility of sudden thunderstorms, officials stressed the importance of preparedness in rural areas. Agricultural activities may be affected by changing weather conditions, and those working in open fields have been asked to remain vigilant. Livestock owners have also been encouraged to ensure animals are moved away from exposed areas during storm activity.
The advisory comes as several districts continue to record significant rainfall, highlighting the need for caution in vulnerable locations where waterlogging or temporary disruptions may occur.
Heavy Rainfall Recorded in Several Districts
Rainfall data collected until 5 p.m. on June 17 showed substantial precipitation in different parts of Andhra Pradesh. Vepada in Vizianagaram district registered the highest rainfall at 96.7 mm, making it the wettest location in the state during the reporting period.
Anakapalli followed with 72 mm of rainfall, while Sri Sathya Sai district recorded 69.01 mm. Narsipatnam received 66.5 mm, Srikakulam reported 65.8 mm, and Nandyal registered 64.4 mm. Additional rainfall measurements included 57.7 mm in Anakapalle and 45.2 mm in Srikakulam.
These figures indicate widespread rainfall activity across northern coastal and interior districts, reflecting the continued impact of the prevailing weather system.
Monitoring Continues Across the State
The APSDMA said it is closely monitoring weather developments and will continue issuing updates as conditions evolve. Residents have been encouraged to follow official advisories and remain informed about local weather forecasts, especially in areas where thunderstorms and strong winds are expected.
