Sanatan – Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Using Lord Ram for Political Advantage
Sanatan – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asserted that his party has consistently upheld Sanatan traditions with sincerity, while accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of turning religious sentiments into an electoral strategy. Speaking during a press conference, Kejriwal said AAP believes in respecting faith through actions rather than political messaging and questioned the BJP’s commitment to the values it frequently highlights during campaigns.
Kejriwal Questions BJP’s Religious Commitment
Addressing reporters, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP repeatedly references Lord Ram and the Ram Temple in speeches and election rallies to attract voters. However, he argued that the party’s public messaging does not match the conduct of its senior leadership. According to him, despite regularly invoking Lord Ram in political discourse, prominent BJP leaders have not demonstrated the same commitment by visiting the temple to offer prayers.
He maintained that faith should be reflected through genuine devotion instead of being used as a campaign tool. Kejriwal said political parties should avoid treating religious symbols as instruments for electoral benefit and instead focus on respecting the beliefs of people through meaningful actions.
Remarks on Ram Temple Donations
During the press interaction, the AAP chief also referred to allegations concerning donations linked to the Ram Temple. He claimed that many followers of the Sanatan tradition have been deeply disturbed by reports related to the handling of temple donations. According to Kejriwal, such issues have affected public confidence and raised concerns among devotees.
He further stated that these developments could have political consequences in the future. Kejriwal expressed confidence that public opinion would eventually influence electoral outcomes, suggesting that the BJP could face setbacks both at the national level and in Uttar Pradesh.
Political Allegations Continue
Kejriwal reiterated that AAP considers itself a party rooted in Sanatan values and claimed that its approach is based on devotion rather than political symbolism. He contrasted this with what he described as the BJP’s repeated reliance on religious references during election campaigns.
The remarks come at a time when political parties continue to exchange sharp criticism over issues involving religion, governance and public trust. Statements concerning religious institutions and political conduct have increasingly become part of the broader national political debate ahead of future electoral contests.
BJP Yet to Respond
At the time the remarks were made, the BJP had not issued an official response to Kejriwal’s allegations. The party had also not publicly addressed his claims regarding visits by senior leaders to the Ram Temple following its consecration.
Kejriwal additionally alleged that there is no publicly available record indicating that one of the BJP’s senior leaders has visited the Ram Temple to offer prayers in the period since the temple’s consecration more than two years ago. His comments have added another chapter to the ongoing political exchanges between the AAP and the BJP over religion and governance.
As political rhetoric continues to intensify, both parties are expected to maintain their respective positions on issues involving faith, public perception and electoral politics, with voters likely to assess these claims as the political landscape evolves.
