Since December 28, 2025, Iranians have been demonstrating, and the media and world leaders have taken notice.

According to The Times of Israel, which cited Reuters and quoted an Iranian official who blamed “terrorists” for the deaths of citizens and security forces, rallies against Iran’s leadership had killed almost 2,000 people. According to the report, this is the greatest documented official death toll from the turmoil that has shaken the Islamic Republic and put its stability in jeopardy.

“My compatriots, as I told you in my previous message, the world not only saw and heard your courage and voice but is taking action,” Reza Pahlavi, Iran’s exiled crown prince, said in a video message posted on X, to the demonstrators. I’m sure you’ve heard the President of the United States’ message by now. There will be assistance soon. Pahlavi also urged protesters to maintain their resolve and to avoid allowing the Khamenei administration to “portray the situation as normal.”Keep up the fight. He said that the level of violence has irrevocably changed the dynamic between the populace and the governing elite. “Do not allow this regime to present the situation as normal,” he stressed.”There is an ocean of blood between us and this regime after all this killing,” he said. The Crown Prince, who is now in exile, asked people to record any alleged mistreatment that occurred during the demonstrations. Put these offenders’ names in writing. They will be held accountable for their deeds one day,” he said. Pahlavi made a clear appeal to Iran’s military and security forces in an attempt to set the country apart from its present leaders. “And I have a special message for the military personnel: You are the national army of Iran, not the army of the Islamic Republic,” he said. He urged them to support demonstrators and reject directives that endanger citizens. “It is your responsibility to keep your countrymen safe. There’s not much time left. As soon as you can, join the people,” Pahlavi said.

In addition, the US is keeping a careful eye on the situation and considering taking action on Iran.

US President Donald Trump told reporters during a Detroit event that he was heading back to Washington to review Iran-related events. “In front of beautiful people in Detroit, we gave a fantastic speech. Now, I’m returning to the White House, where we will examine the whole Iranian issue. The US President told reporters, “We’ll get some precise numbers as to what’s happening with regard to the killing.” Trump said that he would prefer a “little bit of freedom” for the Iranian people when asked whether he wanted to see democracy in Iran. “We would want to see it, ideally. We desire some degree of freedom for these individuals and do not want to see them slaughtered. For a very long time, these folks have been in hell. In the past, several of my acquaintances made profitable investments in Iran. It was an amazing location. They were wonderful individuals. The leadership was also excellent. And it’s living in hell today,” he said.

Trump stated, “Yeah, Iran said that the last time I blew them up with the nuclear capability, which they don’t have any longer, so,” in response to a reporter’s question on Iran’s threat of retaliation in the case of US attacks. They should act more appropriately. Amid allegations of violence against demonstrators, Trump was asked whether he had a message for Iran’s leadership. He said, “The message is they’ve got to show humanity.” They have a serious issue, and hopefully they won’t be murdering others. Although it isn’t verified, it seems to me that they have been acting inappropriately.

Without providing any further information, US President Donald Trump urged Iranian demonstrators to keep up their protests on Tuesday (local time) and promised aid will be arriving shortly. Trump tweeted, “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!,” on Truth Social. Keep the names of the abusers and murderers. It will cost them dearly. Until the needless death of demonstrators ENDS, I have canceled all talks with Iranian officials. HELP IS ON THE WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said Tuesday that the EU would act swiftly to suggest further penalties on individuals responsible for Iran’s crackdown on protests. Von der Leyen said in a post on X, “It is shocking how many people are dying in Iran. I categorically denounce the ongoing restrictions on freedom and the overuse of force.”
