Politics – PM Modi to Lead Patna Roadshow Before Bihar Cabinet Expansion
Politics – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a major roadshow in Patna on Thursday ahead of the expansion of the Bihar government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The political event is expected to draw significant public attention as senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance gather in the state capital before the swearing-in ceremony at the historic Gandhi Maidan.

Senior NDA Leaders to Join Roadshow
According to party leaders, Prime Minister Modi will be accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, JD(U) president and former chief minister Nitish Kumar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several senior BJP leaders during the public procession. The roadshow is being seen as an important political show of strength ahead of the formal induction of new ministers into the Bihar cabinet.
The route for the roadshow has been planned from Patna airport to Gandhi Maidan. The convoy is expected to pass through Harding Road, Beerchand Patel Path, and the Income Tax roundabout before reaching the final venue. Security arrangements have reportedly been tightened across the city due to the presence of top political leaders and anticipated crowds.
JD(U) Likely to Get Major Representation
Several leaders from the Janata Dal (United) are expected to be included in the expanded cabinet. Among the names being discussed are Shrawan Kumar, Madan Sahni, Leshi Singh, Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha, Damodar Rawat, Bulo Mandal, Sunil Kumar, Sheela Mandal, Ratnesh Sada, and Jama Khan.
Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar, is also likely to be inducted into the ministry. He formally joined the JD(U) earlier this year and has recently become active in state politics. Despite not being a member of either House of the Bihar legislature at present, discussions within the alliance indicate that he may be given an important political role.
Dr. Shweta Gupta, who is known for her medical background, is another probable candidate from the JD(U) side for a ministerial position in the new government.
BJP and Allies Finalising Cabinet Berths
From the BJP quota, several senior leaders are expected to take oath as ministers. The likely names include former deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Mangal Pandey, Nitish Mishra, Sanjeev Chourasia, Krishna Kumar Mantu, Sanjay Singh Tiger, and Shreyasi Singh.
Alliance partners are also expected to receive representation in the cabinet. Sources indicate that Sanjay Singh and Sanjay Paswan from Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) may secure ministerial positions. In addition, Deepak Prakash from Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Santosh Kumar Suman from Hindustani Awam Morcha are likely to continue in the government.
Cabinet Expansion After Formation of New Government
The cabinet expansion comes weeks after Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as Bihar’s chief minister on April 15. Vijay Kumar Chaudhar and Bijendra Prasad Yadav from JD(U) had also taken oath as deputy chief ministers during the formation of the new administration.
Samrat Choudhary, who represents the Tarapur Assembly constituency in Munger district, became the first BJP leader to assume the chief minister’s office in Bihar. Political observers view the cabinet formation as a crucial step in balancing representation among NDA allies ahead of upcoming political challenges in the state.
Talks on Portfolio Distribution
Under constitutional provisions, Bihar can have a maximum of 36 ministers in the 243-member Assembly. Reports suggest that JD(U) initially pushed for 16 cabinet positions, including two deputy chief minister posts. However, discussions between BJP and JD(U) leadership reportedly helped resolve differences over portfolio allocation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is believed to have played an important role in achieving consensus within the alliance.
