Textile Investment – Andhra Pradesh strengthened its position as an emerging textile investment destination after securing significant project commitments during the second day of Bharat Tex 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The state signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for textile-related projects with a combined proposed investment of nearly Rs 4,100 crore. The agreements were facilitated under the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles K. Rekha Rani and reflect the state’s continued focus on expanding textile manufacturing, sustainable production, and employment opportunities.

Major Investment Planned for Textile Recycling

One of the key agreements involves the establishment of a large-scale sustainable textile recycling facility in Visakhapatnam. The proposed project is expected to attract an investment of up to Rs 4,000 crore, making it one of the notable textile recycling initiatives announced during the event.

The project is aimed at promoting environmentally responsible manufacturing practices while supporting the development of a circular textile economy. Officials believe the investment will strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem and enhance its role in sustainable textile production.

Garment Manufacturing Unit to Boost Employment

The second agreement focuses on the establishment of a garment manufacturing unit with a proposed investment of Rs 100 crore. Besides expanding the state’s apparel manufacturing capacity, the project is expected to create nearly 3,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Industry observers consider the investment an important step toward generating jobs and supporting the growth of the textile and garment sector in Andhra Pradesh. The project is also expected to contribute to regional economic development by encouraging industrial activity and strengthening supply chains.

Andhra Pradesh Pavilion Draws Strong Attention

The Andhra Pradesh Pavilion emerged as one of the active attractions at Bharat Tex 2026, receiving visits from political leaders, senior government officials, industry stakeholders, and representatives from the textile sector.

Commissioner K. Rekha Rani led the state’s participation, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s investment potential, textile infrastructure, and ongoing initiatives to encourage industrial growth. The pavilion also provided a platform for showcasing the state’s handloom heritage alongside opportunities in modern textile manufacturing.

Focus on Textile Parks and Local Industry

Yemmiganur MLA Byreddy Jaya Nageswara Reddy visited the Andhra Pradesh Pavilion and appreciated the participation of textile enterprises and handloom weavers representing the state. During his visit, he interacted with representatives of textile park associations to discuss the proposed Banavasi MSME Park and its potential role in supporting industrial expansion.

He also visited the Magic Weaves stall, where he encouraged efforts to establish a stronger brand identity for textile products from Yemmiganur. The discussions highlighted the importance of combining traditional weaving expertise with modern branding strategies to improve market visibility and create new business opportunities for local producers.

Strengthening the State’s Textile Growth Strategy

The investment announcements made during Bharat Tex 2026 underline Andhra Pradesh’s continued efforts to attract large-scale textile projects while encouraging sustainable manufacturing and employment generation. With new investments planned in recycling and garment production, the state is working to expand its industrial base and reinforce its presence in India’s growing textile sector.
