Justice – Delhi Court Holds Youth Guilty in Fatal Student Stabbing Near Metro Station
Justice – A Delhi court has found a young man guilty in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Class 12 student during a violent confrontation that took place near Govind Puri Metro Station in 2023. The judgment was delivered after the court examined witness statements, medical records, and other evidence presented during the trial.

Court Finds Evidence Sufficient for Conviction
Additional Sessions Judge Anuj Agrawal pronounced the verdict against Shiva Chaudhary, who was facing charges related to the death of Mohan, a school student. The incident occurred on January 30, 2023, when a dispute involving two groups of students escalated into violence. Mohan suffered a stab wound to the chest during the clash and later succumbed to his injuries.
In its order dated May 26, the court stated that the prosecution had successfully established the accused’s involvement beyond reasonable doubt. According to the judgment, the evidence presented during the proceedings clearly pointed to the accused as the person responsible for inflicting the injury that proved fatal.
Eyewitness Account Played Key Role
A major factor in the court’s decision was the testimony of eyewitness Sumit. The judge observed that his description of the events remained clear, detailed, and consistent throughout the trial. The court noted that his account withstood extensive questioning by the defence and did not reveal any significant contradictions.
The defence had argued that the accused had been wrongly implicated in the case. However, the court rejected this claim, saying there was no convincing reason to believe that the witness had falsely named the accused. The judge found the testimony trustworthy and reliable enough to support the prosecution’s case.
Incident Linked to Earlier Dispute
According to prosecutors, Mohan and several friends were returning from school when they were confronted near a police booth close to Govind Puri Metro Station. Investigators alleged that the encounter stemmed from an earlier disagreement between the two groups.
During the confrontation, tensions reportedly escalated, leading to the stabbing that resulted in Mohan’s death. The prosecution maintained that the attack was carried out as part of a shared intention among those involved in the confrontation.
Supporting Evidence Strengthened Case
While some witnesses did not completely support every aspect of the prosecution’s version, the court observed that portions of their statements still supported key facts. These included the presence of Shiva Chaudhary at the scene, the occurrence of a dispute between the groups, and circumstances connected to the knife used in the attack.
The judge also pointed out that the eyewitness testimony was reinforced by medical findings and other material evidence. Taken together, the evidence formed a consistent chain that supported the prosecution’s claims.
Medical Findings Confirm Cause of Death
The court relied on the post-mortem examination report, which concluded that Mohan died as a result of a penetrating stab injury to the chest. The judgment noted that the medical findings clearly identified the wound as the cause of death.
The court further stated that there was no suggestion of poisoning or any other contributing factor that would require additional forensic examination. As a result, the medical evidence aligned closely with the eyewitness account and investigative findings.
Sentencing Hearing to Follow
With the conviction now recorded, the case will proceed to the next stage, where arguments regarding the appropriate punishment will be heard. The court has scheduled a separate hearing to determine the sentence to be imposed on the convicted individual.
