Religious Significance of Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha, popularly known as Bakrid in India, is considered one of the most important festivals in Islam. The festival commemorates the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to sacrifice his son in accordance with God’s command.
The occasion symbolises faith, sacrifice, gratitude, and compassion. It also encourages charitable acts and support for those in need. As part of the tradition, many families distributed food and offered assistance to underprivileged people in their communities.
Throughout the day, families gathered for meals and celebrations while continuing the spirit of sharing and kindness associated with the festival. Religious scholars and community members also called for maintaining communal harmony and promoting peaceful coexistence in society.
