Leaders Praise NDA’s Continued Success in Assam

Union Minister Chirag Paswan welcomed the NDA’s return to power and said the election outcome reflected the confidence people continue to place in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Paswan, voters in Assam once again backed a government that prioritises infrastructure growth, welfare initiatives, and economic development under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He also pointed to the broader political significance of the results, saying that support for the BJP-led alliance in different regions indicates that citizens increasingly prefer what party leaders often describe as a “double-engine government,” where the same alliance governs both the state and the Centre.

Support From Senior NDA Leaders

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also congratulated the incoming administration and expressed confidence that the new term would strengthen development work across Assam. He praised the role of Prime Minister Modi in guiding the alliance and extended his wishes to Sarma and the ministers set to join the Cabinet.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the NDA government had carried out several welfare and public development programmes during its previous terms in Assam. He stated that the fresh mandate would allow the government to continue ongoing projects and introduce additional measures aimed at improving public services and economic opportunities.

Major Oath Ceremony Planned in Guwahati

The swearing-in ceremony for the new Assam government is expected to draw several prominent leaders from across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with senior Union ministers and chief ministers from NDA-ruled states, are likely to attend the event in Guwahati.

The ceremony is being viewed as an important political moment for the BJP-led alliance in the Northeast, where the party has significantly expanded its organisational and electoral presence over the last decade.

Cabinet Members and Speaker Candidate Announced

Ahead of the oath-taking event, Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the names of four leaders who will join the state Cabinet. These include Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Neog. All of them are expected to take oath alongside Sarma during the ceremony.

Sarma also announced that senior BJP MLA Ranjit Das would be the alliance’s candidate for the position of Speaker in the Assam Legislative Assembly. The announcement was made through a message shared on social media platform X, where the Chief Minister-designate also expressed confidence in his upcoming team.

Focus on Development and Governance

In his public remarks, Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed his commitment to Assam’s growth and said the new administration would continue working toward stronger infrastructure, economic progress, and welfare initiatives. He noted that the government’s priority would remain focused on building a more developed and prosperous state through coordinated efforts across departments.

Political observers believe the NDA’s latest victory further strengthens the BJP’s position in the Northeast and highlights the importance of governance, welfare schemes, and regional development in shaping voter preferences in Assam.
