Security – Madhya Pradesh BJP Marks Operation Sindoor Anniversary With Tributes
Security – The first anniversary of Operation Sindoor was observed in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, with the Bharatiya Janata Party highlighting the military action as a major milestone in India’s fight against terrorism. Party leaders used the occasion to praise the armed forces and underline the government’s commitment to national security.

Chief Minister Praises Armed Forces
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described Operation Sindoor as a reflection of India’s determination to protect its citizens against terror threats. In a message shared on social media platform X, he said the operation demonstrated the country’s courage and strong leadership during difficult situations.
He also credited the armed forces for maintaining the nation’s safety and preserving its dignity. According to the Chief Minister, the success of the mission reinforced public confidence in India’s defence capabilities and its readiness to respond firmly to acts of terrorism.
BJP Highlights Tough Security Policy
State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal said the operation had become a symbol of India’s tougher approach towards terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that the mission sent a direct message to terror groups that the country would no longer remain passive when facing security threats.
Khandelwal noted that terrorist infrastructure had been dismantled within a short period during the operation, calling it an example of swift and decisive action. BJP leaders across the state also used the anniversary to stress the importance of a strong national security policy and public support for the armed forces.
Public Events Organised Across Madhya Pradesh
After the operation’s success last year, the BJP organised several Tiranga Yatras across Madhya Pradesh. These events saw the participation of party workers, supporters, and local residents who carried the national flag while expressing solidarity with the armed forces.
Party leaders claimed the yatras helped strengthen patriotic sentiment and created awareness about the sacrifices made by defence personnel. The anniversary this year revived discussions around those events and the political reactions linked to them.
Previous Controversy Returns to Discussion
The anniversary also brought renewed attention to a controversy that emerged during last year’s celebrations. State minister Vijay Shah had faced criticism over remarks related to Sofia Qureshi during a public programme.
Opposition parties and several civil society groups had objected to the comments, describing them as inappropriate and insensitive. The issue had triggered a political dispute in the state and drew widespread reactions at the national level. The matter was later criticised by the Supreme Court as well, intensifying the debate around the remarks.
Congress Focuses on Farmers’ Protest
While the BJP marked the anniversary with statements centred on national security, the Madhya Pradesh Congress had not released any official response regarding Operation Sindoor by Thursday evening. The opposition party was instead preparing for a large-scale roadblock protest aimed at targeting the BJP government over farmers’ concerns and agricultural issues in the state.
Political observers believe the contrasting priorities of the two major parties reflect the broader political atmosphere in Madhya Pradesh, where issues related to national security and farmers’ welfare continue to dominate public discussions ahead of future elections
