Delhi – Teacher Hospitalised After Fall From Rani Jhansi Flyover
Delhi – A 45-year-old mathematics teacher from a Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Delhi is receiving treatment after he allegedly jumped from the Rani Jhansi flyover on Wednesday afternoon, police said. The incident is being investigated by the Bada Hindu Rao police station.

Teacher Referred for Further Medical Care
The teacher has been identified as Anand Kumar Saroha, a resident of Shastri Nagar. He was taken to Hindu Rao Hospital shortly after the incident and was reported to be in critical condition. After initial treatment, he was shifted to St Stephen’s Hospital for specialised care.
Doctors are treating him for multiple injuries, including fractures in both arms. Police said surgical treatment may be required as part of his recovery.
Police Received Alert on July 8
According to officials, the police station received information about the case at about 4:33 pm on July 8. Early findings indicate that Saroha may have been experiencing significant mental strain connected to work-related responsibilities.
Saroha was serving as a supervisor for Booth Level Officers involved in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. His assigned area covered booths numbered 141 to 150 in Sadar Bazaar.
Family Raises Concerns Over Leave Requests
Family members have alleged that the teacher had been under considerable pressure despite poor health. Vikram Singh Tomar, Saroha’s brother-in-law, said the teacher had sought 10 days of medical leave because of an asthma-related condition but did not receive approval.
The family has claimed that repeated leave applications were rejected and that Saroha was expected to continue with official duties despite his health concerns. They have alleged that the work pressure had affected his mental wellbeing.
Tomar said the family believes administrative stress contributed to the situation. These allegations have not yet been independently verified by the authorities.
Allegation of Pressure Over Official Duties
The family has also alleged that Saroha was facing pressure to complete census-related work even when he was not physically fit to carry out the assignment. They further claimed that he had consumed a household disinfectant before the incident.
Police have not released detailed findings on these claims. Investigators are expected to examine the sequence of events, the teacher’s medical condition, and any workplace-related issues raised by the family.
Family Seeks Independent Investigation
Relatives have demanded a thorough and impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident. They have asked officials to determine whether any administrative action or workplace conduct added to the teacher’s distress.
The family has also called for accountability if evidence shows that health-related requests were overlooked. They say a transparent investigation could help address concerns faced by other government employees handling demanding official assignments.
Investigation Continues
Delhi Police said the matter remains under investigation. Officials are collecting information from family members and others connected to the case as they review the allegations.
No conclusion has been announced so far regarding the circumstances that led to the incident. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and medical updates from the hospital.
