Women Empowerment – Vishnu Deo Sai Marks Didi Ke Goth Anniversary
Women Empowerment – Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the first anniversary programme of Didi Ke Goth in Raipur on Thursday, where he underlined the importance of women’s participation in social and economic development. He said the state government considers women’s empowerment a key part of its wider development plans.
Chief Minister highlights women’s contribution
Speaking at the event, Sai said women have long been respected in Indian traditions and remain essential to the progress of families, communities and the country. He noted that education and opportunities for women can create lasting improvements across society.
The Chief Minister referred to the cultural importance of Durga, Saraswati and Lakshmi, saying these figures represent courage, knowledge and prosperity. He added that when a girl receives an education, the benefits extend beyond her individual future and support the advancement of her household and community.
Didi Ke Goth connects rural self-help groups
Didi Ke Goth is a monthly radio initiative operated by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department through the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, known as Bihan. The programme focuses on informing rural women about government schemes, financial inclusion, livelihood opportunities and local development activities.
It has developed into a communication platform for women involved in self-help groups across Chhattisgarh. Through the programme, participants receive information about entrepreneurship, savings, employment options and community-level initiatives. The platform also encourages women to take a more active role in economic and social decision-making.
Focus on financial awareness and livelihoods
The state government has used the programme to reach women in rural areas who may have limited access to formal information channels. Discussions through Didi Ke Goth cover welfare programmes, banking services, self-employment options and opportunities available through self-help groups.
Officials said such outreach can help women understand how to access government support and build sustainable income sources. The initiative also supports the broader objective of strengthening rural communities through collective participation and local leadership.
Healthcare projects announced in Raipur
Sai has attended several development-related events in the state in recent days. Earlier this week, he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for construction and development works valued at more than Rs 103 crore at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College in Raipur.
The proposed projects are expected to expand facilities at the medical college and improve healthcare infrastructure in the state capital. Sai said the planned development would contribute to better medical services and support the growing healthcare needs of Chhattisgarh.
Cabinet discusses governance reforms
The Chief Minister also took part in Chintan Shivir 3.0, a two-day meeting held at IIM Raipur. The programme brought together members of the state Cabinet to discuss governance reforms, policy coordination and administrative priorities.
During the discussions, the Cabinet considered ways to improve coordination between government departments and adopt modern administrative practices. The deliberations were linked to the state’s long-term goal of building a Developed Chhattisgarh through stronger institutions, improved public services and effective implementation of development programmes.
Sai’s participation in the Didi Ke Goth anniversary event reflected the government’s emphasis on rural women’s development alongside investments in healthcare, governance and public infrastructure. The state administration has continued to present women-led self-help groups as an important partner in improving livelihoods and strengthening local communities.
