SecurityForce – Chhattisgarh Finalises Dedicated Industrial Protection Unit Framework

SecurityForce – The Chhattisgarh government has approved a detailed framework for setting up the State Industrial Security Force (SISF), a specialised security wing aimed at protecting industrial establishments across the state. The initiative has been developed on the lines of the Central Industrial Security Force and is expected to strengthen security arrangements in key industrial and tribal regions.

The newly proposed force will focus on providing professional security services to both government-owned and private industrial units. Officials believe the move will help create a stable and secure environment for industrial investment and long-term economic expansion in the state.

Structure of the New Security Force

According to the approved blueprint, the SISF will function directly under the supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP), who will serve as the overall head of the organisation. The force has been divided into two separate wings to ensure smooth operational and administrative functioning.

The executive branch will manage ground-level security operations and deployment duties. This section will include senior police officials ranging from Special DGP and Additional DGP ranks to commandants, inspectors, and company commanders. Their primary role will involve overseeing industrial security, coordinating field operations, and maintaining discipline among personnel.

Administrative Wing to Handle Internal Operations

Apart from operational duties, the SISF will also have a dedicated secretarial branch responsible for office administration and internal management. Officials in this division will handle documentation, staffing, communication, and other organisational work. Positions in this wing will include office superintendents, assistant sub-inspectors, and supporting administrative staff.

State authorities stated that the separate administrative setup is intended to improve efficiency and allow the operational wing to remain focused entirely on industrial protection responsibilities.

Additional Benefits for SISF Personnel

To encourage discipline and maintain morale within the force, the state government has approved additional incentives for personnel deployed under the SISF. Jawans serving in the unit will receive an extra allowance amounting to 12 percent over their regular benefits.

Industrial establishments availing SISF services will also be responsible for providing several facilities to deployed personnel. These include medical support, accommodation or house rent allowance, armoury facilities, and designated parade grounds at deployment sites. Strict conduct and discipline guidelines will also be implemented for all members of the force.

Industries to Bear Security Costs

The Chhattisgarh government has decided that the SISF will operate under a “user-pays” system. Under this arrangement, industries seeking security coverage will bear the operational expenses instead of the state exchequer funding the deployments.

As part of the process, industrial managements interested in obtaining SISF protection will need to submit a formal application to the Director General of Police. Along with the request, companies must deposit an advance assessment fee of Rs 1 lakh for security evaluation and deployment planning.

Officials have also specified that no deployment smaller than 59 personnel, including officers, will be sanctioned for any industrial location. The rule has been introduced to ensure adequate manpower and effective security coverage at each site.

Technical Security Services Also Planned

Beyond routine guarding duties, the SISF is expected to provide technical expertise to industrial units. The force will offer paid consultancy services related to security audits, fire prevention measures, and disaster management systems.

Government officials believe these additional services will help industries strengthen overall safety standards and preparedness for emergencies. The initiative is also expected to support industrial development in sensitive and remote areas by improving investor confidence and ensuring better security infrastructure across Chhattisgarh.
