Delhi parking dispute fatal shooting

Dispute escalates after repeated arguments

According to police officials, the conflict was not sudden. The two families had reportedly argued on multiple occasions earlier over parking-related issues. On Sunday night, tensions resurfaced when the accused, identified as Gaurav Sharma, sought space to park his vehicle near the residential building.

The situation intensified after Sharma contacted Paras Nayyar, the victim’s elder brother, requesting that a car parked at the entrance be moved. Paras informed him that the vehicle belonged to a friend and that they would return shortly to relocate it. He also suggested using a nearby vacant plot temporarily.

Late-night confrontation turns violent

Later that night, around midnight, Sharma again called Paras, this time asking for space to park another vehicle being driven by his son. Paras reportedly declined, stating that each apartment had a designated parking slot and that they had already made adjustments earlier.

Police said Sharma initially left the location but returned soon after, allegedly hurling abuses. The verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical confrontation when Paras and his brother Pankaj came downstairs to address the situation.

During the altercation, Sharma allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired at close range. The bullet struck Pankaj in the chest, causing critical injuries. Paras also sustained injuries during the scuffle.

Victim declared dead at hospital

Pankaj Nayyar was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Nirman Vihar. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has since been sent for post-mortem examination to determine further details related to the shooting.

Police control room received emergency calls shortly after the incident, reporting both a quarrel and gunfire within minutes of each other. Officers were dispatched to the scene, but the accused had already fled along with his associates.

Arrest made, search for others underway

Authorities later apprehended Gaurav Sharma from Model Town. He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. Police have also launched a search operation to locate other individuals believed to be involved in the incident.

Investigators suspect that Sharma was accompanied by multiple people at the time of the attack, including family members and associates. Their exact roles are being examined as part of the ongoing probe.

Background of those involved

The victim, Pankaj Nayyar, was engaged in a cloth trading business operated by his family in Chandni Chowk. He was known to be actively involved in the family’s commercial activities.

The accused, on the other hand, is reportedly involved in property dealings in the Shakarpur area and also has interests in import-export operations. Police sources indicated that he had recently shifted to the Preet Vihar residence on rent due to renovation work at his own house.

Police investigation continues

Officials are now focusing on reconstructing the sequence of events and verifying witness accounts. Forensic teams are expected to examine the crime scene in detail, while statements from those present at the time are being recorded.

The case has once again brought attention to how minor disputes, if left unresolved, can spiral into serious violence. Authorities have urged residents to seek peaceful means of resolving conflicts and to report escalating tensions before they turn dangerous.
