Onthe morning of December 7, the Luthra brothers departed the nation, flying to Phuket at 5:30 a.m. The owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora village, North Goa, fled to Phuket on an IndiGo Airlines flight at 5:30 am on December 7, just hours after the fire that claimed the lives of five tourists and several employees late on Saturday night, according to a police statement.

The police have also issued a lookout notice against them as part of their inquiry. A crew arrived to their home in GTB Nagar, Delhi, but there was nobody there and the door was locked.

In the meanwhile, Goa Police have increased their operations in Delhi in an effort to find the brothers and their accomplices. Their third partner, Ajay Gupta, who is now untraceable and thought to have strong ties to the Luthra brothers, has also been included in the hunt.

One of the deadliest nightclub fires in recent memory has led to a thorough inquiry into potential safety violations and accountability for the catastrophe. Police units are still working together to apprehend every suspect connected to the case.

Important arrests so far
Police have detained important operational staff member Bharat Kohli, a member of the management team, after securing his travel remand from Delhi, while the owners are still overseas.

Authorities have so far detained the club’s gate manager Riyanshu Thakur, bar manager Rajiv Singhania, general manager Vivek Singh, and chief general manager Rajiv Modak.

A Goa Police squad had earlier in the day visited Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra’s Delhi home and interrogated their relatives.

What started the nightclub fire in Goa?
Authorities think the fire at the well-known party spot in Arpora village, which is 25 kilometers from Panaji, was probably started by fireworks. Initial inquiries have uncovered a number of anomalies at the club, such as the lack of a fire department No Objection Certificate and the issue of a license without the required paperwork.

An investigation committee headed by North Goa District Collector Ankit Yadav has been established by an order issued by Under Secretary of Home Manthan Manoj Naik.

Crackdown on nightclubs in Goa
The Goa government has stepped up its crackdown on the contentious Romeo Lane club chain in the wake of the fire, authorities said on Monday. The hotel company has already signed two other properties in Goa.

A beach house in Vagator and another club in Assagao, both connected to the Romeo Lane network, have been shut by the North Goa district government, according to authorities. The official noted that since the institutions were involved in conflicts, action had been taken against them.

Additionally, nightclubs, restaurants, bars, event spaces, and similar enterprises have received an advice from the Goa government that outlines a number of required fire safety and crowd control procedures.
