News – Police in Kanpur have launched an investigation after a 17-year-old girl alleged that she was abducted, unlawfully confined, and subjected to repeated attempts to force her to change her religion. Acting on a complaint filed by her father, the police have registered a case and arrested the primary accused. Officials said the investigation is continuing, and every allegation made in the complaint will be examined through the legal process.

Police Register Case Following Family’s Complaint
According to police officials, the incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Rawatpur police station in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The victim’s father approached the authorities with a detailed complaint, after which an FIR was registered. The main accused, identified as Arman, has been taken into custody. Police confirmed that further inquiries are underway to determine the full sequence of events.
Victim Describes How the Incident Allegedly Began
In her statement to investigators, the girl said she first met Arman at Kargil Park in the Motijheel area, where the two became acquainted. She later alleged that he asked her to meet him near the Namak Factory intersection. When she arrived at the location, she claimed that Arman and two other individuals took her away in a car.
The girl further alleged that she was initially taken to Motijheel before being shifted to a house located in a Muslim-majority locality, where she was allegedly kept against her will for a period of time.
Allegations of Pressure and Abuse Under Investigation
The complaint states that during her confinement, the girl was repeatedly pressured to recite the Kalma, which she claimed was part of an attempt to compel her to convert to Islam. She alleged that she refused these demands despite repeated pressure.
The victim also claimed that she was physically assaulted after refusing to comply. According to her allegations, she was branded with heated metal tongs and was allegedly forced to consume beef. She further stated that she received repeated threats if she continued to resist the demands made by the accused.
Claims of Coercion and Threats
The girl additionally alleged that she was compelled to sign certain documents during her confinement. She claimed that the accused threatened to send her to Saudi Arabia and warned that her family would face serious consequences if she informed anyone about the incident after returning home.
Investigators have not yet confirmed these allegations and said they are collecting evidence to verify each claim made in the complaint.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Dilip Kumar Singh confirmed that the police received information regarding the matter on June 27. He stated that legal action was initiated immediately after the victim’s family submitted a formal complaint.
According to the officer, the complaint alleges that a minor girl had been taken away by a person belonging to another community and was pressured to change her religion. He added that several additional allegations have also been included in the complaint and are currently being investigated.
Police officials said statements of the victim and other individuals connected with the case are being recorded. Investigators are also gathering documentary and forensic evidence wherever necessary to establish the facts and verify the allegations presented before the authorities.
